  5. I think most people are missing the point that Kegsy was making. He was talking about the birth of the underground/rare soul scene, and that the London and Stateside labels were the foundation that it was built upon. He didn't mean 'what are the most important labels as far as supplying the most records for the Northern scene to play'.

  7. You're right Richard, it was being sold by the chap who comes on here sometimes, Brad I think, Chalky bought it
  8. Found the original thread about Mel Britt with moulded label
  9. Might still be stored as an attachment, I'll have a look
  10. I think I raised a topic about the vinyl Mel britt's a few years ago when I got one. It was the copy leaked out as an original before the styrene pressing. Matrix stamp is the same, slightly wonky. Andy a few weeks back there was a topic about those bootlegs coming via Russ's record lists, I remembered it distinctly because it was my last day of school when I got the list.
  11. Did I? Sorry about that. It had about 2 watchers and no bids and there was one day left. I was selling it for someone else and couldn't risk getting him nothing for his record. If it were mine I'd have let it run to the end.
  12. I had a proper non-rosette Detroit one last year or year before off Hitsville Chalky which he bought from Detroit. 100% original, pale blue label. I did post a pic up.
  13. No Vault licensed it from Popcorn Wylie. Says they never paid him either.
  14. I've listed this twice now on Soul Source and 3 times on my main list at half the price you quote and didn't get a single taker. Here is my copy on ebay which didn't get a single bid despite a £19.99 start! https://cgi.ebay.co.u...T#ht_500wt_1413 n.b. I did sell it privately in the end 3 weeks ago
  15. No, black issue, red demo on those Vocalions. Second issue indeed!
  16. If the seller has stated that it is a UK original issue then he has mis-sold it and you should ask him once more for a refund and then tell him that you will be opening a case for item not as described. And put a link to this thread as well!
  17. CBS 6 figure numbers run from 1965 to 1967, they always begin with 20, then they switch to 4 figure numbers. The Shirley Ellis was bootlegged on Soul Sounds so I reckon the second issue must be from 1971 or thereabouts. It came out again with the mid-70's CBS design, some were on blue vinyl.
  18. Issue £20 - £30, was a big seller, but the demo is really tough, sort of thing I'd sell for £75 and then someone would auction it for £300
  19. Sounds too cheap, is it definitely a demo?
  20. £257 for a Jimmy James record.
  21. There are an awful lot of people selling their records at the moment, and many have stopped to consider the consequences of selling them all in one hit. I would say around 80% of all records I sell at the moment are on commission, for other people. Used to be totally the other way round, 80% of my own, 20% commission sales.
  22. If anyone's interested https://www.rare-soul.com/wordpress/ 70 or so pressings, reissues, some rare ones, very reasonably priced Shopping cart facilities available cheers Pete
  23. Second one is a reissue, there's a third and possibly 4th reissue too.
  24. CLASSIC
  25. Every single copy has a muffled intro NIge, it's not your ears!
