I bet they cost a lot to post. My garage and shed really are a record box graveyard.
-
I wonder why? I've got stacks of these. A couple of psychedelic ones, red, blue, black. They're all stacked up in the garage awaiting a trip to the tip!

Phyllis Brown - Ive Got Something On My Mind- Was This Booted?
Pete S replied to a topic in Look At Your Box
It is a duet, Sunny & Phyllis, just credited to Phyllis. There's definitely two presses - either that, or a massive amount of originals came in and were sold very very cheaply. -

Phyllis Brown - Ive Got Something On My Mind- Was This Booted?
Pete S replied to a topic in Look At Your Box
Yes it was booted, sorry can't remember the details, it'll come to me -
Definitely - Bob Bateman arranged I think, Detroit musicians all over the track
-
Bobby Callender - my baby changes like the weather - I thought this was Smokey Robinson when I first heard it - later I found that Smokey & the Miracles had done it as well, but that Callender guy does the best impression ever.
-
Can't see a lot with those photos, you need to put the cameras macro function on, it's usually a logo like a flower, this'll enable you to do really good close up shots. Looks like a vinyl copy to me though and if that writing says nashville matrix, it is original.
-
It's called It Was A Very Good Year and be careful because two versions came out in the UK, one on HMV, one on Stateside, the one you want - that is, the best one - is on HMV.
-
Vocal more than likely done in the UK in someone's shed.
-
No I didn't know it but it's great!
-
I don't think it sounds like a Motown record either. But neither do half the records quoted so far
-
Yes sounds just like This Old Heart Of Mine and was supposedly withdrawn because of this..
-
Mary Love - You turned my bitter into sweet. Actually thought it was a Motown track first time I heard it.
-
Good connection Mick, kicking myself for not thinking of it!
-
Shame he didn't got copyright on it, it's been used countless times for cd sleeves, flyers, articles
-
It's definitely 66 - most the Cameo Parkway labels have the founding date of the label at the bottom, 63 or 64

Sorry Steve, I had treatment to remove disco from my memory
-
Don't think so, she recorded for (at least) 2 labels as Vicki Baines - Karen Young was a white UK singer, unless you mean someone else?
-
Bloody hell I forgot that one, and it was only 2 years ago!
-
I must be one of the few people to have had a demo and an issue at the same time. I got the issue off Ebay, saw it, no bids, offered the guy $150 and got it (this was in 2000). The day it arrived, I'd bought one off someone, might have been Kev Roberts, for £400 I think it was. The two arrived on the same day. By the weekend they had both gone. I got £1000 worth of trades for the issue. I personally think it's worth about £800 on demo.
-
This Jimmy Burns finished on ebay this afternoon, Mick Smith rang me and said what did I think about the fact that he was the 3rd highest bidder but within an hour he had been offered a second chance buy at £1200? I said if you're gonna buy it, go and deliver the money by hand and pick it up. Dodgy.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LONG-JOHN-BALDREY-UNITED-ARTIST-MINT-DEMO-/190638715757?pt=UK_Records&hash=item2c62f3f36d#ht_500wt_1413 He advertises payment in paypal, but when you pay him, he refunds your money and insists you pay by postal order. So why is he allowed to have the paypal logo? I really want the record above but postal orders will cost another £5 on top of what will probably be 3 figures anyway. This has got to be against ebay rules surely?
