Nearly sold this last year, got two or three offers, one of which I accepted, then the guy never came through with the money, so I lost the sale. OK I'll rephrase that. Would Russ Winstanley be given the same free pass as Colin Curtis has been by people on Soul Source if he was to do a set using cd's? (I've never heard a Colin Curtis set and wouldn't want to, so I'm not saying this because of the music selection or because of any opinions I have of CC, it's just the actual dj-ing off cd's that's the issue and why it's ok for some but not for others)

Could someone please compile a list of dj's who are allowed to play off CD?

THis is a post I was going to make when I'd read the lot. What it boils down to is that there are certain rules for some dj's, and different rules for others. Chris King is a traitor for playing tunes off a laptop. Colin Curtis is a genius for playing tunes off cd's. If your face don't fit, your face don't fit.

I really agree with your last statement but unfortunately people putting on events which are frequented by handbaggers are only in it for the money, they know they are going to get packed venues and big takings behind the bar so they don't care about playing Third Finger Left Hand, this is just so far away from what the Northern Soul scene was/is about, and I know it's not just in this town, though we do seem to have more than most, and people say to me how come we never see you out anymore..is it any surprise?

(For those who are interested, the record is Sweet Precious Love by laurel Aitken & The Carols, on Rainbow. I wonder if the Carols are in fact The Carrolls, the Liverpool group featuring Faith Brown...they sound white)

I counted 14 record boxes in the garage and there are 12 in the shed, there is a 100 box but it's red Paul, like the 50 boxes but extended, you know the type I mean. The photo below is in the garage but the wooden effect thing on the left of the picture is a DISCOTRON, not only a Discotron but one with a built in radio. Shame it's such a sh*t design as they are very rare. The box with Soul on it came with a collection a few weeks ago, I love the way people used to decorate their boxes and record sleeves.
