  1. https://www.dailymail...ogram-axed.html appears to be not much to it
  2. One brilliant story is Selectadisc asking Kama Sutra via Polydor to do them a repress of Billy Harner's What About The Music, when they arrived they'd accidentally put an instrumental version on so they sent it back...the rest is history...the instrumental version is now worth £1000
  3. I always thought that people in the Uk approached the record companies. Did Neil Rushton do the deal with Columbia Special Products for instance?
  4. But a 'true' Mecca set would be unaffordable nowadays as it would include the likes of Cheatin' Kind and so on...some of the scenes very rarest classic Northern sides were first played there
  5. I understand what you're saying - I just think that this particular record is a strange one to have undergone such a reaction. Next up, Ronnie Davie, BJ Thomas (bother better than P.A.)?
  6. I like Peggy March as well but in the grand scheme of things where something like Eddie Parker's "I'm Gone" (for instance) is rightly seen as the pinnacle of Northern Soul, these Anka / March records are just inconsequential pop fluff.
  7. Vegas style...
  8. You're right. Absolutely brilliant. Sounds daft but I had this for a long time and never even played it, when I did...whoosh, hairs standing up time
  9. I didn't say that did I, I said at the time it was discovered back in 78 it was played alongside the records I quoted plus Judith Durham, Gene Latter, Blue Chips, Charlie Gracie etc. and was considered, rightly, a pop stomper. I've no idea why it's been rehabilitated. It's okay, I like it, but there's a thousand better records out there. If you like it then fine, why worry about what I think of it? I was just trying to find out what was behind it's revival.
  10. I think that was "Hurt"
  11. Are you taking the p*ss? Or getting it mixed up with I Can't Help Loving You? When We Get There was always a Divs record along with Peggy March, Muriel Day and Kiki Dee. And note I never said it was crap or rubbish, I just said it was pretty unremarkable.
  12. Not you as well, why is everyone after this pretty unremarkable record all of a sudden? p.s. bet you have a fair old wait for a UK one, I sold 1 x demo last year and 1 x issue this year but until those two, I'd never had one
  13. For some reason I'm getting no sound on this
  14. Never heard the expression!
  15. I still need someone to explain to me how the word Original can be abbreviated to OG. Keep seeing it in peoples sales especially on ebay. It's starting to win me up nearly as much as B-B-Q.
  16. This is not true. We all hate you.
  17. I think you'd be really surprised. Honestly.
  18. They obviously have a reason for not booking Ian and I wasn't trying to tell people who they should and shouldn't book, before anyone says anything to that effect; just that if I, personally, was doing it, I'd have Ian doing it.
  19. Yes he's still got loads of those.
  20. I don't remember that, but I do remember a bootleg operation being on the news, same sort of era, they pressed their own copies of David Bowie and Led Zepplin lp's and infiltrated the bootleggers circles. Operation Moonbeam or similar.
  21. If I was to ever put on a Mecca revival night, I'd have thought the ideal guest would be Ian Levine, who plays off vinyl... he used to DJ there apparently
  22. Same seller https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UPTIGHT-EVERYTHINGS-ALTRIGHT-TMG545-DEMO-STEVIE-WONDER-/260964495151?pt=UK_Records&hash=item3cc2b22f2f#ht_500wt_1413
  23. I agree with you, it is VERY common in handbag venues.
  24. Nige I don't think you can accuse the people on this thread of being snide, quite the opposite, they are outspoken and not holding anything back. I also don't think this is all about C.C. either but yet another chapter in long debate about CD vs OVO or whatever it's called.
