  1. No never tried that. I'm really a washing up liquid and warm water type of guy. And that foam gives me a headache.
  2. When you squirt it on, it makes quite a bit of foam, I actually start to play the record then, they stylus gets tons of dirt off the record but gets clogged up after 30 seconds, by this time the foam has turned to just runny liquid, I keep playing it and wiping the stylus...when it's all done, rinse it off with water. n.b. if you leave it on, it makes surface noise
  3. It's a bit like the top football clubs, they've got all the money so they get the best players and win everything. I preferred it when any of 8 or 9 clubs could possibly win something.
  4. Nev, you aren't taking into account all of the people who don't actually look at anything on Ebay except "ending soonest" - so me, for instance, I wouldn't have seen that COD's until the last day of it's auction. I have no idea what's on Ebay while the auctions are ongoing, just the last 24 hours. Saves me spending a week fretting about it.
  5. Blimey they didn't hang about long - sold all 4 batches straight away!
  6. I'VE PUT SOME REGGAE / SKA JOB LOTS UP ON EBAY IN CASE ANYONE IS INTERESTED. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GO VIA EBAY YOU CAN ALWAYS BUY THEM FROM ME DIRECTLY. 7. JUST FOUND THIS IN WITH A LOAD OF REGGAE JUNK - ANY INTEREST? DAVE CORTEZ & THE MOON PEOPLE - HAPPY SOUL (W/A HOOK) / FISHIN' WITH SID - SPEED 1014 (GREEN LABEL) CONDITION, WELL PLAYED WITH SOME LIGHT CRACKLE AT THE START AND 4 OR 5 POPS ALTOGETHER THROUGHOUT, BUT THE BREAKS ALL SOUND GREAT, MY USUAL GRADE FOR THIS WOULD BE VG+ I THINK, IT PLAYS BETTER THAN THAT, AND OF COURSE I WOULD OFFER A MONEY BACK GUARANTEE IF IT'S NOT AS STATED. IT HAS BIRO INITIALS ON THE LABEL. IT'S A GOOD COPY UNTIL YOU FIND A MINT ONE. POPSIKE PRICES GO FROM LIKE $30 TO $130, BOOKS AT £75, ANYONE WANT TO GIVE ME AN OFFER BASED ON MY DESCRIPTION? IF I GET ANY OFFERS I'LL GIVE IT TIL 6PM TOMORROW
  8. Ritchie - funny you should say that because I mentioned it somewhere else recently, saying I can never hear it without expecting it to jump at that part!
  9. Also may explain where they came from then as only a couple of people had the records at the time (Xmas 79 I think)
  10. No it's a red Pye mate. Worth £40-£50. £60 on demo. Had a one sided acetate a couple of years back, that was nice.

  13. I've had them all before mate, always had to sell them, at one point I had issues and demos of most of the Bowie records, plus I had Liza Jane on Vocalion Pop, the deram album, the Philips album, MWSTW dress cover - the lot. All gone now except one Pye 45.

  15. This is such great info. Shame there's not so much of it as there used to be. Great info I mean. It's all "Well I checked in the book and it said this". You can't beat experience.
  16. Once heard a rumour that these were recorded straight off the decks. Then another one as to who did them. But don't think it would be true as they'd have killed 2 of Richard's biggest sounds stone dead.
  17. I dunno Steve, I've never had one that plays Here She Comes Funnily enough, got the mispress up for sale today.
  18. PETE SMITH 01902 326306 pete.smith@freeuk.com A NICE SELECTION OF ORIGINALS IN GREAT SHAPE. POSTAGE RATES AT THE BOTTOM OF PAGE. PAYMENT METHODS: CARD, PAYPAL, BANK TRANSFER, CHEQUE THANKS FOR LOOKING THE TYMES - I WON'T CRY (ANYMORE) - PARKWAY M- £80 This is the rare mispress which lists Here She Comes on the label but actually plays the excellent I Won't Cry (Anymore), which is not on another 45 SAMMY AMBROSE - THIS DIAMOND RING / BAD NIGHT - MUSICOR SOLD EX+ £100 Hard to find in ANY condition, this one is in beautiful shape. Early Barry White arrangement DON GARDNER - AIN'T GONNA LET YOU GET ME DOWN - SACK EX £40 Very fast dancer with great deep flip JIMMY HOLLAND - BABY DON'T LEAVE ME - BLUE ROCK DEMO M- £40 I think this is a Detroit production, might be wrong, good fingersnapper HAL TROTTER - THINK ABOUT IT - GRAND LAND EX £50 Lesser-known Detroit stormer ROSETTA JOHNSON - THAT HURTS - ATLANTIC DEMO M- £40 Should have been massive...superb female dancer. Big ballad on flip. BARBARA JACKSON - BIG MAN - WARNER BROS DEMO M- £50 Another cracking girl dancer, pounds along (tune sounds like a slower version of The 81!) Another great girl group sound on the B side, "He's Good" THE VONDELLS, KING KOLAX & COMBO - VALENTINO - MARVELLO EX £60 OK have to admit I know nothing about the history of this one, very doo-wop influenced in the style of "Arabia" DRAKE & THE ENSOLIDS - PLEASE LEAVE ME - ALTEEN M- £100 Brilliant Chicago group dancer and the best copy you'll see in a long long time THE FANTASTIC FOUR - THE WHOLE WORLD IS A STAGE / AIN'T LOVE WONDERFUL - RIC TIC DEMO M- £75 Easy on an issue but very tough as a white demo. Was £100 last price guide, not likely to have got cheaper! "Stage" is a masterpiece. DANNY HARRISON - GIRL, GIRL, GIRL - CORAL DEMO EX+ £50 A belting dancer in beautiful condition JOHNNY COBB & THE ATTRACTIONS - FORGET HIM / LOVE DOESN'T PAY - JAGUAR EX £50 Forget Him starts with what really galloping drums but the verses slow it down, other side is a midtempo thing, both sides are interesting but I have to admit to never having heard this in my life before! Label comes from North Carolina. KENNY GAMBLE & THE ROMEOS - HARD TO FIND THE RIGHT GIRL / (I'LL WORK) EIGHT DAYS A WEEK - ATCO DEMO EX £40 Gamble does The Impressions - nice! LINDA LLOYD - BREAKAWAY - COLUMBIA DEMO M- £150 Monster sound from a decade ago - still sounds brilliant - you'd never need to upgrade this copy AZIE MORTIMER - PUT YOURSELF IN MY PLACE - SWAN DEMO EX- £40 Nice popcorn dancer - not The Elgins song. Tiny little bit of crackle near the start hence the minus grade. POSTAGE IS £2 FOR 1 TO 3 RECORDS 1ST CLASS RECORDED DELIVERY FOR ITEMS OVER £50 I WOULD RECOMMEND SPECIAL DELIVERY AT £6 OVERSEAS POST IS £8 INTERNATIONAL SIGNED FOR AIRMAIL CHEERS PETE
  19. 933 lists The Twelfth Of Never b/w Here She Comes but the Here She Comes side actually plays a very good Drifters influenced track called I Won't Cry (Anymore)
  20. The earliest Northern acetates I've seen - that is, in-demanders specifically cut for someone - have been tracks you wouldn't believe were ever rare, things like Bill Blacks Combo - Josephine, The Capitols - Tired of running, Earl Van Dyke - 6 by 6, Chubby Checker - Cu ma la be stay...dating from 1969/70
  21. There's no problem cleaning acetates, just use warm water with a drop of washing up liquid, I've cleaned dozens of them
  22. Would you pay that? I wouldn't!
