  1. Would love to know who that is because I also had 2 packages to Paris disappear despite them being sent signed for!
  2. I couldn't not be interested in a subject and write about it Chalky. I'd have to have some enthusiasm.
  3. Yeah it's comparitively easy to put a magazine out now because of the internet, I bet I could have a 40 page magazine out by wednesday if I started it now, all the info is out there, you can get all your record label scans and artist photos off the net, the only thing I'd struggle with is the design - but of course there are templates for that as well. I remember having to buy loads of expensive discography books to enable me to do label listings, of course all that info is now available at the click of a mouse. But you've got to be interested, and I'm not anymore, I take my hat off to the people who've managed to carry on doing it for years and kept their enthusiasm.
  4. I agree, best ever. But, don't forget the advantages they have over what we had, when I started Beatin Rhythm in 1988 every label had to be photocopied and stuck on a page and then the text worked around it, we had no computers, just a typewriter and some scissors and pritt!
  5. I had 250 clips removed and received a threatening letter from Motown's lawyers in the USA for using one clip from the show Motown 40. They also closed my account.
  6. Also Dave if I were you I would try and find out a bit more about your buyer, he may have a history of doing this. Remember when that bloke ripped me off with that triumphs demo? Within 2 hours over 3000 people knew about it via here, Facebook, mailing lists.
  7. Yeah def not Northern, I just bought it to put with my 60's curiosities - probably never play it
  8. If he's asking where it is after 2/3 days that suggests to me that you're onto a loser here Dave, he absolutely knows that he won't receive it in 3 days.
  9. He must be getting suspicious cos I bought one yesterday
  10. Yes there is a proper stamp, can't remember if it's Nashville Matrix but there is one.
  11. Actually I knew he wrote it, says on the label and as he was with deram at the same time I put 2 + 2 together, didn't realise he recorded it though. Bit like the Moody Blues doing the original version of Dry Well - Gypsy! I think I quite like early Cat Stevens stuff. Not as good as early Bowie but good.
  12. That guy was from Wolverhampton, I'm sure I read recently he was in a band and went solo, the Montanas or something like that
  13. Definitely the original, I've been trying to find this out for a decade! Great work. See the producer, he was a member of Teardrop Explodes - so I thought, except the Teardrop Explodes guy was born in 1958 so he would have done this one when he was 10 years old.
  14. I do all of the things that you describe in your original post - then 2 weeks later, I sell it I love the chase and the discovery.
  15. There's nothing cloak and dagger about this, the seller just doesn't want his sales list turning into one of those "it's not worth that" and "how can he charge that much" episodes which take over the thread. He's priced them up and tells me everyone who asked will be getting a reply very soon, but he has been swamped with requests. And I'm not one of the interested parties on any record, it's just if you've never actually sold records before, it can be a bit daunting to start with. It's not an auction - he will send you the price of the record you asked about.
  16. Is it on Rio? I just sold it on Rainbow.
  17. DOWNLOADABLE VERSION OF TODAY'S PODCAST https://podcast9122525417.podomatic.com/entry/2012-03-15T09_28_58-07_00
  18. Never heard that - it was great - but I really missed the cello breaks from the Double feature one. Wonder which is the original?
  19. Need an original of this, not the repro - really good price paid.
  20. It would probably go for crimes against humanity...
  21. No disputing that - he wouldn't sell it me because I got it too heap, simple as that. Seller was in Devon or Cornwall...really got my back up
  22. Me, got a Barry St John - everything I touch turns to tears - dead cheap off Ebay, something like £22, bloke then tells me it's got a crack in it that he hadn't noticed previously, this is despite him putting a scan and a sound file of it up! If I could remember seller name I'd print it.
  23. I think Beverley Jones was actually the first Motown cover in the UK - I may be wrong but that's what I heard, somewhere, once upon a time.
