The problem with Mercy, is that it got to number 1 in the pop charts, which rather defeats the object of having rare soul nights. It actually WAS played by some venues as it was making it's way up the charts, but I don't think it could or should get played now. Just my opinion.

Trouble is, too much water probably gone under the bridge since it all happened. Doesn't hurt to ask why it happened though. Nobody enjoys bad publicity.
-
He doesn't come on here anymore for some reason.

Yeah it's not bad at all. I know the artist - one of Brian Epstein's I think.

Well you learn something every day! Never knew that existed.

Ian Levine ' Solid Soul Sensations' April Podcast Now Up
Pete S posted a topic in All About the SOUL
PLEASE NOTE I AM JUST COPYING AND PASTING THIS ON BEHALF OF IAN, THE CONTENT OF THIS POST WAS WRITTEN BY IAN AND NOT MYSELF, JUST NEED TO MAKE THAT CLEAR. IF THE POST IS LOCKED, IT'S BEEN LOCKED BY ME, NOT THE SITE. Here it is, my dear friends. The amazing scintillating best ever podcast, the fourth one, and this is for April 2012. https://soundcloud.com/ian-levine/solid-soul-sensations-4 And then when you fall in love so deeply with the music, go back and listen to the first one that started it all. https://soundcloud.com/ian-levine/solid-soul-sensations-podcast And then go back and listen to the second one, from my February Solar Radio show https://soundcloud.com/ian-levine/solid-soul-sensations And then love and adore the brilliant third one, from March 2012 https://soundcloud.com/ian-levine/solid-soul-sensations-3 That's a total of TWELVE HOURS of the best music from me, Ian Levine. And all different. And all free. What more could you ask from life ?? This is music to tingle your spine, to enthral your senses, to drown yourself in soulful emotion. Now you can hear it, download it and treasure it forever and hopefully love the music as I do. -
I'm sure I've had a Beatles 45 looks identical to that Solomon King - made in Taiwan it said on the sleeve
-
Supposedly worth £80 Rob. That might be for the demo copy. It's certainly a rare 45.
-
Except for when he shot John Lennon.
-
That hits the nail on the head Dave. While most people got married, had kids in the 80's, I did it late, very late, so now I have one aged 3 and one aged 6 and I am not going to miss watching this pair grow up, not after having lost one daughter, I'll never make that mistake again. Everything will take a back seat. If I were in your shoes though, I think I'd be doing exactly the same as you are dojng, otherwise I'd go slowly mad.
-
Is it not a Singapore press? They did press records there.
-
Sometimes though Russ good things just come to an end. You don't need excuses; it's just not what it was anymore. Like when you realise you're falling out of love with someone.
-
Paul Stewart Movement is related to Hamilton Movement who had 2 rare singles on Polydor (I think). Mia Lewis two singles on Decca, 3 on Parlophone including the Northern "Nothing lasts forever", the other 2 on Parlophone nothing to write home about. Donald Lautrec mod/beat thing. Dan Patrick is an Allen Toussaint thing. I'll but that Michael Cox off you if you want to flog it Jules.

You just reach a point where you realise that it's over Len. Mine was about 3 years ago, I was at Stoke all nighter, I was so bored that I left at 2am and I knew I'd never go to an allnighter again. It would take an awful lot to make me actually attend a soul night, let alone anything else. That's down to a few factors: no decent local do's, same dj's on at every do, not being able to have a drink if driving and the smoking ban. Plus I actually prefer watching MOTD on a saturday, doing stuff with the kids. I got into Northern in 1974. It's had ample time off me.

Yes, it was actually a frequent 'big room' spin in 77. Wigan I mean.
-
I love the Joe 90 Theme but I collect Gerry Anderson themes on 45 so that's why!
-
Absolutely agree with your choice and thats one of the records that really started putting me off going to Wigan.
