Came out on Stateside before Pama. Any more Calla 45's on Stateside? Can't think of any others on Pama.

GIRLS TOWN https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/girls-town/ Here's a bevy of British label beauties for you, some of my best girls/girl group 45's, mostly Northern Soul but not all...too many classics to pick a favourite but wow what about that Three Degrees track tucked away on the B side of Gee Baby...some of these tracks make regular appearances on my podcasts (Carol Deene, Samantha Jones, Helen Shapiro) but I just never get tired of hearing them or playing them. First time I've included Linda Lewis though I think, how did I miss that until now? HELEN SHAPIRO - STOP (AND YOU WILL BECOME AWARE) - COLUMBIA BARBARA RUSKIN - SONG WITHOUT END - PICCADILLY FLAMMA SHERMAN - WHERE IS HE - SNB LESLEY DAWSON - RUN FOR SHELTER - MERCURY NEW FACES - LIKE A MAN - PYE LESLEY GORE - LOOK OF LOVE - MERCURY LINDA LEWIS - YOU TURNED MY BITTER INTO SWEET - POLYDOR BARRY ST. JOHN - GOTTA BRAND NEW MAN - COLUMBIA KAROL KEYES - THE GOOD LOVE, THE BAD LOVE - COLUMBIA LORRAINE SILVER - THE HAPPY FACES - PYE THE FLIRTATIONS - LITTLE DARLIN' (I NEED YOU) - POLYDOR PERPETUAL LANGLEY - TWO BY TWO - PLANET THE THREE DEGREES - DO WHAT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO DO - STATESIDE DUSTY SPRINGFIELD - WHAT'S IT GONNA BE - PHILIPS CAROL DEENE - HE JUST DON'T KNOW - COLUMBIA THE CHANTELLES - THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT YOU - POLYDOR JACKIE BURNS & THE BELLS - I DO THE BEST I CAN - MGM LIZ CHRISTIAN - SUDDENLY YOU FIND LOVE - CBS LITTLE EVA - STAND BY ME - STATESIDE THE SHANGRI LAS - RIGHT NOW AND NOT LATER - RED BIRD SUSAN MAUGHAN - THAT OTHER PLACE - PHILIPS SARI & THE SHALIMARS - IT'S SO LONELY (BEING TOGETHER) - UNITED ARTISTS MARION RYAN - BETTER USE YOUR HEAD - PHILIPS HELEN SHAPIRO - HE KNOWS HOW TO LOVE ME - COLUMBIA SAMANTHA JONES - SSOMEBODY ELSE'S BABY - UNITED ARTISTS DODIE WEST - IN THE DEEP OF NIGHT - PICCADILLY EVIE SANDS - TAKE ME FOR A LITTLE WHILE - RED BIRD RODDIE JOY - COME BACK BABY - RED BIRD MARY WELLS - NEVER NEVER LEAVE ME - STATESIDE You can see scans and read reviews of many of these records at https://lostvinylgemsofthe60s.blogspot.co.uk/

Come off it Mark, it has to be some kind of joke record doesn't it? Nobody sings like that on purpose!
-
Edit it back in again Joan before they all start picking on me for not liking their record
-
If it were earlier it wouldn't have the In Crowd reference or sound just like The In Crowd Joan Rubbish record, wouldn't pay ten quid for it.

Is that the alternate take available on the extended Dirty Dancing soundtrack CD?

Won a record last night, cheap British thing, Checkmates Ltd on Ember demo - £12. Seller invoiced me £3.50 for 1st class standard postage. Actual cost £1.20. So I sent a polite email asking why the postage was so high. This is the reply I got. Just because I asked about the postage. Is there anything I can do? Seller name edwardbobtail This Record has been damaged and is no longer for sale, apologies Stephen

We just need to remember that these are auctions and anything can happen. What I hate is the day after when someone else puts one of the auction items up for set sale at the same price as the auction. Most auction prices end at double the 'real' price.

Just wanted to let people know about a change to the blogsite (Lost Vinyl Gems Of The 60's). Every entry now has a 'label' which is basically a category. So if you only want to see Northern Soul entries, just click that label; if you only want to see Girl groups, just click on the Girl groups label. The labels are: Male Vocals, Girl Groups, 60's Classics, Instrumentals, Mod, Northern Soul, Psych / Beat, Wall Of Soundalikes, TV Themes. There are now 225 entries. https://lostvinylgemsofthe60s.blogspot.co.uk

So what am I missing here, I would have thought that would have been worth about £20 - £25. Friend of mine bought round an Atlantic test pressing of that yesterday, even that I wouldn't have priced at more than £25. The rarest format is the UK London demo - and even that wouldn't make £200.

How Has The Northernsoul Scene Changed Since Getting Older?
Pete S replied to ImberBoy's topic in All About the SOUL
DJ's. Back in the 70's they were few and far between, about 10 people who were considered top dj's, they had all of the sounds first and people would travel to hear them. We worshipped at their feet, us mere mortals. Even now I can't believe I actually know Ian levine and Richard Searling. Now every f*cker is a DJ... -
Came out in Australia on 45.

Is the Mica one the one with I Can't Please You on the other side - cos that's an alternate take as well.

You can't remove scratches, you can wear them down a little and sometimes you can cut a scratch back into the groove, I used to be able to do that until my eyes went, but if it's bad in the first place, polishing will have no effect whatsoever apart from making it look better. You could give me a record on, say, UK Stateside in terrible condition and I could give it back to you half an hour later in mint condition. Not that I would, but thats how easy it is to do. With certain types of vinyl, boiling water / steam takes the top surface off.

Rufus Lumley - Stronger Than Me - RCA

100% never on a 45 mate. Interesting that they put a sticker on the sleeve saying that it contained the hit single I'm Your Pimp - but it didn't come out on a 45
-
I never heard the Sharpees! That Robert Plant record is tremendous, British blue eyed soul at it's very best.
-
Both - some do it with polishing tools, some do it with t cut!

I've got a hundred of these acapellas and to be honest, you could say that about more or less all of them - without the original backing track they can be manipulated way beyond the producers original intention.
-
Sadly you are mistaken - it's simply to improve the appearance of the record, sometimes in order to deceive.
-
Was going to agree. Then changed my mind. It's not shite, it's just deadly dull. Had the life removed from it.
