Agreed, fantastic record! -
Am going to lock this as it's turning into an argument. If anyone wants me to reopen it, PM me ok.

Dunno - just make him an offer - what it is, Helena Ferguson? £25?

Why do you feel the need to look down your nose at people who don't agree with your limited opinions on music?

Here again with your smart arse comments aren't you, I never mentioned SOUL I said NORTHERN SOUL which is a totally different genre in case you hadn't noticed, if you have never heard British produced Northern Soul then how can you make sense of it? It's a fine British Northern Soul production. chapter five ray merrell mickey moonshine john andrews the chants bobby goldsboro all great UK produced northern soul records, not soul records, none are by soul singers and none claim to be

It's one of the best British produced Northern Soul records I've ever heard - it's as good as Steve Aldo, John Andrews...you need to understand the genre before you slag it off Bob.

Jeez, I spent a year trying to sell a copy of Pigtails and finally let it go for £25 a month or two ago! Must have listed it on here at least 3 times. Shame our paths didn't cross earlier.

yeah I have that problem, it's usually followed by "oh you're quite nice really aren't you"

Maybe it was from when you were acting in Last Of The Summer Wine?

1977...top Sounds Played Or Recorded In This Year..help
Pete S replied to a topic in All About the SOUL
Chalky most of my collection is made up of records big in 77, right off the top of my head big tunes included lesley uggams - don't you even care inspirations - breakthru yum yums eddie rgan paula durante - if he were mine joey heatherton paris blues yvonne daniels bernie williams mvp's the camp lou ragland travel alone garnet mimms jimmy cliff waterfall august & deneen april stevens lillie bryant toni basil al de lory john e paul the jewels adams apples paula parfitt this list would go on forever, obviously many of these got plays before 77 but all were massive in that year -
True, but for most of us, our introduction to the music came via the youth club / local disco, and they played off any old reissue there usually. I remember loving things like The Fidels, The Furys, Brooks & Jerry - I had no idea that they were being played off British copies (not did I care, I was 15 years old)

What a shame that Eddie Singleton isn't here to defend himself against slander like that.

£75 should get you one easy enough

No, Sapphires are the Honey & the Bees (Arctic) I think...

Here it is, my dear friends. The amazing scintillating best yet podcast, the FIFTH one, and this is for May 2012. https://soundcloud.com/ian-levine/solid-soul-sensations-5 And then when you fall in love so deeply with the music, go back and listen to the first one that started it all. https://soundcloud.com/ian-levine/solid-soul-sensations-podcast And then go back and listen to the second one, from my February Solar Radio show https://soundcloud.com/ian-levine/solid-soul-sensations And then love and adore the brilliant third one, from March 2012 https://soundcloud.com/ian-levine/solid-soul-sensations-3 And then go and listen to the fourth one from April https://soundcloud.com/ian-levine/solid-soul-sensations-4 That's a total of FIFTEEN HOURS of the best music from me, Ian Levine. And all different. And all free. What more could you ask from life ?? This is music to tingle your spine, to enthral your senses, to drown yourself in soulful emotion. Now you can hear it, download it and treasure it forever and hopefully love the music as I do.

He's appeared in a couple of big budget Hollywood movies including Around The World in 80's Days. Very experienced 'serious' actor. -

I don't know what the boundaries are, if any, in your original topic; Paramount distributed by EMI, Direction distributed by CBS, and so on, not really little labels; or is it just labels that only issued a few records? Or doesn't it really matter

Instrumentals : Still Collecting Them In 2011
Pete S replied to 45cellar's topic in Look At Your Box
Never even heard of The Honor Society - amazing. -
Yes a label probably overlooked because 99% of it's releases are jazz, not much else apart from Mark Murphy as you say, an early Staples Singers 45 and Mongo Santamaria 'Watermelon"
