  1. I've often asked why certain things get put up for auction when they are common records. There's no right answer, even the common records fetch good prices in the auction, but here comes the big problem I have, just because it fetches a big auction price doesn't turn it into a rare record overnight, yet other people immediately up their prices to the auction price. That is the thing that makes me angry/mad whatever.
  2. I've never seen anyone 'hating' John Manship as you put it, I don't think I've ever sad a bad word about him, I like him very much and admire what he's done and what he does. He's always been good to me and vice-versa. What I moan about are the ridiculous auction prices he gets. And I'm not jealous, because I'd never have those records to sell anyway, I"m just baffled. Where do you get this stuff from about people criticising John?
  3. How would I know if people are wealthy, it's none of my business Bob I've managed to keep my business running for 14/15 years, just about, I've sold thousands and thousands of records, but I've never sold a £20 record for £500.
  4. I've got a couple of the bits he's selling and there's a good chance they could appear on TV in the future because TOTP 2 has already shown a perfect quality Showstoppers - Ain't Nothing But A Houseparty, part of one of his rare shows.
  5. I could do lots of things if I had the money Bob.
  6. I dunno, I just don't get it, the Solomon Burke thing is still fresh in the memory...£500 for a £20 record...
  7. I used it myself yesterday for the first time ever when talking about the sad death of Lou Pride. You're right about Frank Wilson, that is exactly what it should describe.
  8. We always thought they were Freddie Bell's group! How did they get away with calling themselves the Bell Boys if there was already a group of that name?
  9. Sorry but they'd get the same condition and service off most of the professional sellers off here for half the money.
  10. Yeah that guy has some very reasonably priced stuff on there
  11. Sometimes in emergency cases, first to pay gets the record, and this was obviously an emergency case...
  12. getting spins! Last chance before ebay! Copies drying up now! :lol:Nice one Dave
  13. Mate after seeing those latest auction result I am giving up pricing anything for anyone! I'm obviously f*cking clueless.
  14. Well he says anyone remember this guy without telling us who he is for a start!
  15. PLus I can't get f*cking £60 for a mint Mel Houston! Identical record to the one above, but in keeping with policy when a record fetches a daft price, my £60 copy is now £100.
  16. Tainted Love is worth nearly £400 now. I'm giving up and getting a proper job.
  17. I'd love to take you up on some kind of scientific experiment with that Steve. Some boots are better quality than the originals LOL

  19. I echo that, one of the greatest records ever made, as a 15 year old buying that I thought I had the Holy Grail despite it only being a £5 emidisc, I almost wore it out, loved it for 37 years now, I also met Lou at Prestatyn, just imagine, walking past the guy who made that record and going "Alright Lou?" and him saying "How ya doin".... that was LOU PRIDE who just spoke to me! RIP Lou.
  20. Shouldn't be more than £3 Dave.
  21. Crystal was just another company cashing in on Northern Soul, they were owned by President who of course owned Jayboy, no strangers to soul music, so once they got word that they had the rights they'd have had no hesitation in releasing the record. They also released Ede Robin, Berry Street Station, and a cover of Ace Cannon. The album mentioned above was also a President thing I think. p.s. there's way more than 7 releases on the label, they started off in 1969 doing pop psych and reggae. 69 Sands John Kilimanjaro CRYSTAL CR 7001 69 Junior Smith Put On The Presure CRYSTAL CR 7002 69 Cassidy Jimmy What A Feeling CRYSTAL CR 7003 69 Merryweather Jason Abigail CRYSTAL CR 7004 69 Pavement Double Decker Of A Man CRYSTAL CR 7005 69 Soul Horatio Nobody'S Gonna Sleep Tonight CRYSTAL CR 7006 69 Quest James Ecstasy CRYSTAL CR 7007 69 James David Nothing Left To Lose CRYSTAL CR 7008 70 Cats Sherman CRYSTAL CR 7009 70 Pavement Boomba Man CRYSTAL CR 7010 71 Douglas Craig All Kind Of People CRYSTAL CR 7011 71 Luckhurst Reg Misty Moonlight CRYSTAL CR 7012 71 Imitations Walking Up A One Way Street CRYSTAL CR 7013 71 Imitations Open Your Heart CRYSTAL CR 7014 72 M U 5 Rain Dance CRYSTAL CR 7015 72 Not Trace CRYSTAL CR 7016 72 Luciano Without You CRYSTAL CR 7017 73 Pastures New Boy Child Is Born CRYSTAL CR 7018 74 Not Trace CRYSTAL CR 7019 75 Sax Of Soul Sea Cruise CRYSTAL CR 7020 75 Sounds Of Sunset Canadian Sunset CRYSTAL CR 7021 75 Cottage This Thing Caled Love CRYSTAL CR 7022 75 Robins Ede There Muse Be A Love Somewhere CRYSTAL CR 7023 75 Berry Street Station Chocolate Sugar CRYSTAL CR 7024 75 Jekins Diane Tow A Way Zone CRYSTAL CR 7025 75 Wisdom Nefertiti CRYSTAL CR 7026 76 Cottage You Got Me Wrong CRYSTAL CR 7027 77 Captain Rock & Skyriders Lupy Lu CRYSTAL CR 7028 77 Richardson Neil Orchestra Theme From Master Mind CRYSTAL CR 7029 77 Buzz With Bexley Heath Scouts & Guides Jubilee Rock CRYSTAL CR 7030 77 Buzz What A Feeling CRYSTAL CR 7031
  22. Have to agree with the use of "Holy Grail", so unoriginal and pathetic really, I see somneone today posting a no centre HMV copy of "Evil One" and describing it as "Holy Grail" - to who? Most people wouldn't touch it without a middle, and even with one it's only worth £125, the actual Holy Grail would be priceless wouldn't it?
  23. Kinnell have you been brooding over that for 4 days, let it go, probably a misunderstanding anyway and not worth getting hot under the collar about. I sometimes get migraines when I read things people have said on here and want to reply immediately, I'm that mad, instead I just try to take the p*ss instead of getting into the arguing. I must be mellowing.
