  1. Yeah I think more maybe £30 but not much more, remember one record fair in Wolvo where there was a reggae stall and me and Rob Pheasant found about 5 copies of it on Beverlys in one go.
  2. OK Paul I believe in being upfront with people so I shall explain to you what is happening. I sold several reggae and ska records to someone 18 months ago, he recently asked me if I wanted them back, so he sent them back along with the Jackie Edwards and a few more bits, because none of them are particular rare I have been pondering about how much trades I was going to give him, anyway I'd already made a list with JE on and also a pink Island Jackie & Millie, then yesterday the auction happened and because I hadn't actually said how much I was giving in trade, he said best not sell it after all, this is when I was in mid conversation with you and posting up that scan last night - so I've had to withdraw it, despite me saying that he would never get another offer as high as £100 for it. As we speak, Mick Smith is putting his copy on ebay buy it now at £500 and describing it as a "bargain" If I'd done the deal you could have had it for a lot less than £100. Sorry.
  3. Quite nice, the Curtis Davis, but barely Northern Soul...
  4. A few people know this one but it remains very obscure, it's ten times rarer than "Come On Home" and I'd actually rate it as harder to find than "I Feel So Bad" (though nowhere near as good), will this be the next big Jackie Edwards record? I remember Anglo had one for £200 at least 5/6 years ago, did it ever sell I wonder?
  5. No problem, it was the fact that it was Jackie Edwards / red and white Island which conjoures up memories of thousands of ebay auctions being ruined. I had over 100 of my auctions ruined by these people and never sold reggae on there again.
  6. Anyone who thinks Frank Wilson is "poor" needs help. Not a favourite of mine but as an example of "Northern Soul" it's up there with the very best of them. You've just heard it too many times.
  7. I saw that and I can see how it can be misconstrued but Dimples was thinking that the people who ruined the reggae auctions for many years had started to turn up on soul auctions now, when he said fake bidder he didn't mean that the people running the auctions were putting prices up, just some individuals who do this just to f*ck auctions up.
  8. It means there are no CD players. It might not be OVO but at least it's VO.
  9. Most of these bootlegs on Ebay are not actual pressings of records but they are carvers made to order by someone or two or three people who have machines, you only need to look at the vinyl and labels, so they can just list any titles and make a copy if anyone orders it. A few years ago someone was doing Millie Jackson House For Sale and I thought they were threatened with legal action by Ace but took no notice.
  10. I've had ONE arrived damaged and I pack exactly the same as you John, envelope mailer and three pieces of card with the grain placed opposite, the one that got slightly damaged was weird because the guy I was sending it to in Germany said beforehand that if I sent it in a UK type mailer he thought it would arrive damaged. Ended with a little bump on the edge of the record.
  11. Is this the Mexican one? Got a pic sleeve like a wall or something like that? I got two as swaps from someone on here.
  12. I really sympathise with you, they are idiots. Just had one charge me £3 postage, it came with a 90p first class stamp on it, with no stiffeners, and the record advertised as Excellent was G+.
  13. true! I went soft after the kids were born...
  14. Fantastic price - mine was cheap enough - or rather, I reckon that's about right nowadays.
  15. LOL Just in a meeting concerning said record...
  16. Why've you never asked me for it before, I had 200 red and white Island singles!
  17. But do you see the point I"m trying to make, yesterday it was worth £25, but today it's (apparently) worth £500+. And if you go by that rule, I'd be a fool to sell it for £25 now that it's worth £500. But everyone knows it isn't worth £500 except to one person. Or two.
  18. Unfortunately there's already two in front of you
  19. Just in case anyone thinks I'm bullsh*tting and haven't actually got it, here it is with the phone there to show the date
  20. He certainly produced them, he had their gold discs everywhere
  21. I've just been told that Jackie Edwards - Come On Home - Island fetched £563 in auction just now. THIS RECORD IS WORTH £50 AT THE MOST. I have a copy here someone sent me on Friday which I was going to sell for £25 in mint condition. Would someone like to give me £200, £300, £400 for it? No of course they wouldn't. What possesses people to go mad like that?
