  6. I did a google search and it came up with ONE copy
  7. I think it's a genuine release that's just slipped under the radar maybe?
  8. No it is real Kev, I have it here, scratched in matrix number and something that looks like RFS/MC also scratched in. I found one photo of it on the net. Only posting this up because I'd never seen it and didn't know what to ask for it.
  9. Well mainly because a) I've never seen a reissue of it before and b) John Manship doesn't mention it. Which is why I asked...
  10. Is it just me or is this on the wrong label? I know it came out on Sound Stage 7 and another label (Southern Artists?) but this is on Sound Plus which I thought was some kind of reissue label - but I've never heard of this being reissued. Anyone got this on this label, presume someone must have.
  11. It's the same record Dave, it was definitely Roger's copy, maybe I did charge him £400, however much it was it was double what I paid for it.
  12. Dave in 2006 when Memory Lane was still open I walked in and they had one on the desk, I said how much is that, he said £150, I said ok I'll have it, I bought it, went outside, phoned up Mick and said you interested in The Icemen, he says how much, I said £300, he said yeah sure....
  13. No didn't mean that to sound like showing off, just heard so many of those great Harthon records to know, same as when you hear a drum fill on certain Motown records you know who that drummer is.
  14. All of the first Jamaican recordings were influenced directly by New Orleans musicians, when they began recording in 57/58 the major influences were Fats Domino, Dave Bartholemew, Smiley Lewis. The only recordings done before that time were one off acetates as there were no recording facilities on the Island. Ska grew out of what was originally known as "Shuffle", the Jamaican equivalent of New Orleans R & B, and the reliance on the offbeat gave ska it's unique sound.
  15. Harry within one second, before that first drum roll ended, I knew that was a Harthon production and not a Detroit one.
  16. Sorry it's been so long since I did an update...but I've done one tonight.. LOST VINYL WORLD OF THE 60'S - AN UPDATE AT LAST!! New additions from: THE TENNORS PRINCE BUSTER GLEN ADDAMS SIR LORD COMIC JACK SPARROW THE MELODIANS ALTON & THE FLAMES DON DRUMMOND DICE THE BOSS BUSTY BROWN WINSTON RICHARDS THE COONS MAUREEN EVANS RAY STEVENS JON GUNN JOYCE BOND https://lostvinylgemsofthe60s.blogspot.co.uk/
  17. Don't know where you're getting this info about a legit press in 78, someone else mentioned it earlier, no such thing as far as I know, just boot one on vinyl, boot two on styrene, both done in 76.
  18. Best backing track is Kenny Bernard by a mile, so I'd like that backing track. Not sure about the vocal. Think I prefer Ray Paige's, Major Lances version sounds a little weak compared to some of the other versions.
  19. Don't make any difference to me, if people want to sell that stuff, fine, if people want to buy it, fine, I can actually see how a Northern Soul cup would be useful, say you started at a job in an office or factory, if you took your NS mug along it might be a conversation starter and you'd make lots of new mates, so there you go, merchandise can be useful after all.
  20. Don't think I ever made it that far Dave. I haven't got it now but I do have copies of every episode, somewhere, I'll see if I can find them. You can have them if you want them, I don't need them.
  21. They didn't Chalky, Alan Klein did, he owned the publishing rights.
  22. Bought the box set couple of years back. Bit dated now mind.
  23. Can't get the pm to work Benji, if helen not gone, yes please, sure it has by now
  24. They often are, but I think they often wanted to rush them out so quickly that a copy of the record would be despatched and the tune dubbed off it, I've had mint ska records on which you can hear clicks from the original. Sometimes the producers came over with tapes but more often than not, dubbed off a disc.
