No, £25...and you can give it a rest, you were the subject of enough talk on here when you were selling bootlegs as originals on ebay and not giving a toss about ripping people off

karaoke version of Open The Door To Your Heart...I was racking my brain thinking about what record you were all talking about and when I finally realised what it was I couldn't believe you were all going so over the top. There's certainly another copy because I got this in about 98-99 from a chap who sold me his collection which included a black RCA Don ray, I remember that one, and sold it at one of those two weekenders at that hotel in Bournemouth, can't remember who to but it was something like £125, I sold a minnie jones to jo wallace the same week from the same lot I think * for an accurate timeline, it was the week before the Danny Moore's hit the streets

I never thought I'd know a day when Yvonne Baker wasn't it my top 10 but I just compiled a new top 100 and it's about number 78! It's not that I dont like it anymore, it's just "not as good as it used to be"

He said cheap as possible!

I remember the 3rd anniversary when it was probably at it's peak, they played it 3 times that night, even I liked it then.

Clara Wood Issue, Jackey Beavers & Other Northern Sales
Pete S replied to Pete S's topic in Record Sales
yeah that was actually a really bad judgement on price by me, but I remembered not being able to sell a white demo for ages and eventually reduced it to £75, I actually thought maybe £125 on the issue but I needed to shift it sharpish so that's why I stuck £90 on it. Stupid really, but wasn't sure of the demand anymore. -
Counting Down The Top 100 Oldies Of All Time (Top 20 Added)
Pete S replied to Pete S's topic in All About the SOUL
Yeah I used to love doing those mix compilations but I kept getting complaints from people either wanting reggae or soul, not usually both, and only a few brave souls wanting the punk and beat stuff...though when I did podcast machine, I put some crackers up on there - all now sadly lost -
Mariachi brass Tezza, have a listen to this hip hop tune to hear one of the best mariachi samples ever! I think it might be John Barry...
-
I don't know anyone who likes Blanche Carter! Love Stemmons Express and The Del Larks though. Don't like The Precisions version! Takes all sorts.
-
Theres not an infinite amount of topics you can have though, eventually then run out and have to be recycled, hence OVO every month, best dj's every 6 months, how to get a warp out of a 45 every 9 months..

Could happily stay in and listen to that one over and over...

HERE IS PART 2 WELL I HOPE YOU ENJOYED PART 1 - HERE IS PART 2, COUNTING DOWN NUMBERS 80 TO 61. I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT TO QUALIFY, ALL OF THE TRACKS HAD TO BE FROM VINYL, SO ANY OF MY FAVOURITES WHICH WERE ON CD OR MP3 SADLY DIDN'T QUALIFY. LOOK OUT FOR A FANTASTIC 'COCA COLA' ADVERT FEATURING LEE DORSEY ABOUT HALF WAY THROUGH! PART 3 WILL BE COMING UP VERY SOON. https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/the-top-100-northern-soul-oldies-of-all-time-80-61/ 80 BOBBY HUTTON - LEND A HAND (ABC) 79 GLORIA JONES - TAINTED LOVE (CHAMPION) 78 JOHNNIE MAE MATTHEWS - I HAVE NO CHOICE (BIG HIT) 77 NANCY WILSON - THE END OF OUR LOVE (CAPITOL) 76 BILLY PROPHET - WHAT CAN I DO (SUE) 75 RONNIE MCNEIR - SITTING IN MY CLASS (DE-TO) 74 GARNET MIMMS - LOOKING FOR YOU (UNITED ARTISTS) 73 ELOISE LAWS - LOVE FACTORY (MUSIC MERCHANT) 72 E. RODNEY JONES - R & B TIME (TUFF) 71 BRENDA HOLLOWAY - RECONSIDER (MOTOWN) 70 JACKIE EDWARDS - I FEEL SO BAD (ISLAND) 69 GEORGE BLACKWELL - CAN'T LOSE MY HEAD (SMOKE) 68 TOWANDA BARNES - YOU DON'T MEAN IT (A & M) 67 ESTHER PHILLIPS - JUST SAY GOODBYE (ATLANTIC) 66 TONY CLARKE - LANDSLIDE (CHESS) 65 THE MONITORS - CRYING IN THE NIGHT (MOTOWN) 64 JERRY WILLIAMS - IF YOU ASK ME (CALLA) 63 JIMMY BEAUMONT - YOU GOT TOO MUCH GOING FOR YOU (BANG) 62 TIMI YURO - IT'LL NEVER BE OVER FOR ME (LIBERTY) 61 LARRY WILLIAMS & JOHNNY WATSON - TOO LATE (OKEH) -
I think Frankie & Johnny is one of the best UK produced records of the entire 60's, not necessarily as a Soul or Northern Soul record, just as a record, it's stupendous. Why they put it on a B side I'll never know.

Thats got to be up there with the worst records ever made. I love it when people have it for sale and say "superb alternative version to cajun hart".
-
This is all very vague now because it was 20 years ago but it might have been Graham Williamson. Is he still around?

It is, and the download links are all still working. I've been thinking, I was looking through my old records this morning and I would think that almost every chart place would change and at least 20 records would come in to replace ones I'm fed up with. I'd still have to stick to the rule of only including records I have on vinyl though, be it original or reissue. See if this link works Benji https://planetrecords.podbean.com/ -

Someone I used to swap tapes with in the 90's, can't remember who, told me he bought the Eddie Parker on Awake at the Torch for a quid, they tried it and it never caught on for some reason...

Counting Down The Top 100 Oldies Of All Time (Top 20 Added)
Pete S replied to Pete S's topic in All About the SOUL
My best memory of that one (Court Davis) was buying it off a UK pop dealers auction list where he had it described as a "Gene Pitney soundalike", strange record to find in the UK. -
Another two in my all time top 100, I think at one point I would have walked the length of the country to get a copy of Cajun hart.
-
I think I really like Wombat, not because it's a great record, just because it's a memory jerker. People not around at the time must be mystified about that record but it was as big a record in it's day as anything ever - undeniably a great record to dance to. I don't like or have never liked Holly St James though.

I might have mailed them to people if they asked me but I never sold / distributed / produced them on cd's Garv, it was just on that podcast site. Don't know if you remember but it inspired Rich Chorley to poll everyone about their top 5 sounds and he was working on producing the definitive top 100 until he fell seriously ill. Shame it never got completed. -

Pete S replied to Mike's topic in Record Sales
A couple of months back someone was doing the "so and so now SOLD" post after every sale so I wrote a comment that said "thanks for keeping us informed", and he said "no problem!" or similar thinking that I actually meant thank you. -
Don't be so pathetic.
