  1. Don't know if this is any help at all - probably not https://www.whosampled.com/sample/view/3897/DJ%20Honda%20feat.%20Mos%20Def-Travellin'%20Man_Jerry%20Butler-Whatever's%20Fair/
  2. Paul didn't you tell me you once found one of these in Eastbourne? Might have been someone else from Brighton...
  3. Anyway - Dave - when you are half way through typing, press CTRL and S, you will never lose your typing again. Actually you could probably get it to auto-save for you every ten minutes. Seriously.
  4. No I'm afraid I don't know but it wasn't bad at all, was it.
  5. I like threads like this because it's always fascinating to see what other peoples tastes are. I think to myself "How can anyone NOT like Frankie Crocker" while at the same time, someone else thinks "How can anyone LIKE Frankie Crocker". If people don't like the thread, just leave it alone and let those who are enjoying it carry on enjoying it.
  6. Improve it then
  7. Think he's on a wind up...
  8. Dave the lesson is, every 5 minutes just click control & s, and it'll save it
  9. Just going back to Jackie Edwards yet again, does anyone know "If This Is Heaven"? B side to the schmaltzy "Julie On My Mind" (which Prince Buster covered). Really good dancer with verses that sound the Left Banke but a big brassy chorus. Sorry I can't find a clip of it anywhere but it's well worth checking out.
  10. I know where you're coming from
  11. You're right Macca.
  12. No they weren't Steve, they were 74. Don't ask me to prove it because it'll break your heart hearing Richard Searling playing Gary Lewis in 1974.
  13. I personally think it's a better record than Love You Baby, and Billy Sharae's version is nothing compared to Eddie Parkers'. Thats just me mind.
  14. Thanks mate. They really are bargains - half or more than half price listed elsewhere, loads of them. I want to sell them not keep them.
  15. Agree with every word you say here.
  16. But two of the best Northern Soul records ever played...
  17. Johnny Curtis. I never think about these records in a playing out context anymore, I know what I like and I like this. I love 60's pop music and I love Northern Soul so when you get the combination of the two it's inevitable that I'm going to like a lot of those as well. Not saying they should be on a list of everyones classics, just that I like them. I thought that version that came out a year or two was brilliant, where they were singing it live for a TV show, no strings available but still a great version. And what an archive find.
  18. No. I auctioned one last year when I had a full set of 100 clubs to sell for someone. The highest priced one was actually the Double Cooking vocal, this Chuck jackson made about 80 quid I think
  19. Part 3 just gone up on mixcloud, numbers 60 to 41 WELCOME TO PART 3 AND THANKS FOR ALL OF THE COMMENTS SO FAR - GLAD SOME OF YOU ARE ENJOYING THE CHOICES. I'VE HAD TO RUSH THIS LAST ONE AND SO DIDN'T GET TIME TO INSERT ANY JINGLES BUT I'LL TRY AND FIND SOME MORE FOR THE FINAL TWO EPISODES. ALSO, I DIDN'T REALISE I WAS RECORDING IN SUCH LOW QUALITY SO THIS ONE AND FUTURE ONES SHOULD BE AS GOOD A QUALITY AS PREVIOUS CASTS. ALL BEING WELL, I'LL POST PART FOUR TOMORROW AND THE FINAL PART ON THURSDAY EVENING. https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/the-top-100-northern-soul-oldies-of-all-time-60-41/ 60 LOU RAGLAND - I TRAVEL ALONE (AMY) 59 RONNIE & ROBYN - SIDRA'S THEME (SIDRA) 58 EDDIE PARKER - I'M GONE (AWAKE) 57 THE BELLES - DON'T PRETEND (MIRWOOD) 56 TONY MIDDLETON - TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH (MGM) 55 MORRIS CHESTNUT - TOO DARN SOULFUL (AMY) 54 CAROLYN CRAWFORD - FORGET ABOUT ME (MOTOWN) 53 DELREYS INCORPORATED - DESTINATION UNKNOWN (TAMPETE) 52 GENE CHANDLER - I CAN TAKE CARE OF MYSELF (CONSTELLATION) 51 THE FI-DELS - TRY A LITTLE HARDER (KEYMEN) 50 BOBBY BLAND - SHOES (DUKE) 49 THE REFLECTIONS - LIKE ADAM AND EVE (ABC) 48 ADAM'S APPLES - DON'T TAKE IT OUT ON THIS WORLD (BRUNSWICK) 47 THE WORLD COLUMN - SO IS THE SUN (TOWER) 46 REGGIE GARNER - HOT LINE (CAPITOL) 45 KARMELLO BROOKS - TELL ME BABY (MILESTONE) 44 DENA BARNES - IF YOU EVER WALK OUT OF MY LIFE (INFERNO) 43 JIMMIE RAYE - PHILLY DOG AROUND THE WORLD (KKC) 42 MEL BRITT - SHE'LL COME RUNNING BACK (FIP) 41 CAJUN HART - GOT TO FIND A WAY (WARNER BROS)
  20. All Dean Parrish's records are great. Tell her - best version by a mile. I'm on my way - classic. Determination - one of the best ever. Whats not to like?
  21. Jim I know you'll say I'm splitting hairs here but there were not many rubbish played in 1976 and 77 at Wigan. There were lots in 78 and that includes your joe 90, tim tam, lenny gamble and all that crap, but I could probably count the amount of 'bad' records on both hands played in 76 and 77.
  22. OK. I'm going for a walk, get some sunshine. Bit heavy on here lately.
  23. Do me a favour!
