  1. Yeah it's fine margins of weight, 99% of all single records I send cost £2.15 first class recorded that's for the record, mailer and 3 pieces of cut cardboard, but you can actually send 3 records for the same price.
  2. Nice label!!! What makes this funnier is that he's asking £11.99, the record is only worth £4 or £5 anyway. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLAREDONIANS-SEVEN-IN-ONE-VERSION-EX-LABEL-DAMAGED-/380170277649?pt=UK_Records&hash=item5883ea1311#ht_748wt_1140
  3. Best not come on a thread called "over rated" then, if he doesn't like Terry Callier, he doesn't like Terry Callier, it's nothing to do with the rest of us. I respect him for coming out and saying it and not feeling he has to say he likes stuff just in case the likes of yourself make comments like the one you made above. I like Look At Me Now and Ordinary Joe and that's it for me and probably many many more.
  4. Right here it is folks, the final volume of "Good Stuff", the previous three were monster successes so I hope you enjoy this one too, once again I have tried to avoid tracks that everyone has heard and already got on compilations etc, all are dubbed from original 45's (not mine I might add), both Jamaican and UK releases, the Cool Cats single on UK Jolly recently went for nearly £300 I think, no wonder I failed with my bid of £66! Much as I love Rocksteady and early Reggae, I think it's the quality of the Ska tracks on this series that have been outstanding, a lasting tribute to people such as Don Drummond, Roland Alphonso, Tommy McCook, Baba Brooks, Lloyd Knibbs, Roland Wilson, Lester Sterling, Karl Bryan, Lloyd Brevett, Johnny Moore and all the other genius musicians who played on practically everything that came out of Jamaica in the 60's. https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/mor-of-the-good-stuff-last-installment/ AUSTIN FAITHFUL - CRY NO MORE FOR ME DAVID BROWN - ALL MY LIFE LLOYD& GLEN - FEEL GOOD NOW DELROY WILSON - THIS LIFE MAKES ME WONDER THE CARRIBBEATS - HIGHWAY 300 THE COOL CATS - WHAT KIND OF MAN PRINCE FRANCIS - SIDEWALK DOCTOR PRINCE BUSTER - INTENSIFIED DIRT ROLAND ALPHONSO - LIVE DESIRE DELROY WILSON - SAMMY DEAD LORD BRISCOR - TROJAN THE SENSATIONS - SHE'S DRESSED IN BLACK PRINCE BUSTER - LAST TRAIN TO LONDON PRINCE BUSTER - IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT BOBBY AITKEN - THUNDERBALL DERRICK MORGAN - THROW THEM AWAY PRINCE BUSTER - LING TING TONG BIG CHARLIE - YOU MAY NOT BELIEVE SIR LORD PACKAI - BADO MAN PRINCE BUSTER - I MAY NEVER LOVE AGAIN BILLY & BOBBY - WE AIN'T GOT NOTHIN' YET KINGSTON ALL STARS - HAPPY HUNTER VERNNON ALLEN - FAR I COME VERNON ALLEN - BABYLON RONALD WILSON - LONELY MAN LORD CREATOR - I'M HOLDING ON DERRICK MORGAN - YOU'RE A PEST THE TARTANS - AWAKE THE TOWN EASTON HOWARD - THE TIME THE UNTOUCHABLES - PRISONER IN LOVE KEN PARKER - A CHANGE GONNA COME SLIM SMITH & THE GAYLADS - YOU DON'T CARE
  5. https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/the-original-trojan-story-revisited-remixed/ It's 1972, I'm in Goulds tv & radio shop in Wolverhampton and I spot this amazing looking album on the racks - "The Trojan Story" - I'm immediately attracted to the eye catching record labels on the cover and when I turn the sleeve over, it's actually a triple LP set and it appears to be the history of Jamaican music! My goodness. I only get 25p a week pocket money though and this set costs £2.99, my Mom has given me a fiver as she had no change and told me under no circumstances am I to spend more than my 25p. Well you can guess the rest. I bought the LP and spent nearly 3 months without pocket money to pay her back. She hasn't changed by the way. Anyway, The Trojan Story is one of the most important and influential records I've ever bought, it educated me about the different styles of Jamaican music - R & B, Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae so by the age of 13 I more or less knew what I was talking about and I've collected this music on and off for 40 years now. I read those sleeve notes so many times that even now I can almost recite them word for word. The original Trojan Story was dubbed from vinyl 45's and the track listing was all over the place as far as continuity was concerned, so I have dubbed from cd wherever possible and more importantly, I have rearranged the track listing so it runs in it's correct date order. Although not the definitive collection of Jamaican music (where was Prince Buster for a start?), the Trojan Story was a brilliant starting point for me, though at the time I couldn't work out where records like "Every Night" fit in (turns out it was the biggest selling Jamaican record in the UK in 1966 despite being a ballad). I've cut 5 or 6 tracks to get the running time down but all the important stuff is here. Great memories for me, and I'll never forget hearing "Rock Steady" and "Perfidia" for the first time and vowing that one day I would own them on 45's, it took me 30 years to achieve that though. 6. You can see Jamo Thomas performing both Arrest Me and I Spy on The Beat shows.
  7. It's those star ratings. I am handing out some 1 stars for postage charges at the moment. Doesn't seem to make much difference on ebay UK though
  8. Update STEWART SMITH £550 PLEASE NOTE ALL BIDS TO BE IN £10 INCREMENTS, THANK YOU Update LEBARON STRINGS £110
  9. You sure, I was going in there from 84 til I left in 2002 and they always had singles, on the front desk and under the lp racks! Lost count of the 45's I got from there.
  10. The guy who charged me £7.50 has just sent me a new invoice, charging £4 to send 3 records by 1st class standard, actual cost of this is £1.30.
  11. Absolutely!
  12. Can I just butt in here and make a suggestion - if Paul hasn't received the money after all this time, something went wrong with the refund, if you check the email address that you sent it to, it could be wrong? Thats usually why refunds don't go through.
  13. I've noticed since the last lot of postage price rises, people are really taking the p*ss, sellers charging £3 for 1st class standard (actually costs £1), £3.50 for 1st class recorded (costs £2.15) and at the moment I won 3 records off one guy on Sunday, he wanted to charge me £7.50 for 1st class recorded (3 x 2.50, actual cost £2.15) and he will not respond to my queries, I don't appear to have any way to make him send me a combined invoice apart from asking him via Ebay messages THREE TIMES and all have been ignored. Next I will get a non paying bidder strike. How's that fair?
  14. I'd rather have none than rubbish like that Joe. It makes people think that it was literally just "ok" when it was actually very good service.
  15. It was at a boot sale on the Oval in Hastings in 1993, the Jackie Trent and Tony Colton came from Grammar School Records in Rye, Sussex in 1994. I used to find some great records when I lived down there, I don't find anything here at all.
  16. Final bump for these before tomorrow's closing date.
  17. I can top that with a 50p Frankie & Johnny and £3 Tintern Abbey on Deram...actually I gave the guy the 50p for Frankie & Johnny then he called me back and said "Sorry mate, that one was £1 not 50p"
  18. Junji, I gave them the suggestions for the track listing for that CD - and the Pye compilations that came out on Sequel.
  19. I can beat that, I paid less than £10 for mine, in the same box was a Pye demo of Tony Colton - I Stand Accused, that was £20. Those were the days. It was 20 years ago though LOL
  20. And also they say " Heavy on Detroit/Northern Soul would be a plus" A good collection of Detroit / Northern will cost upwards of 5 grand to infinity!
  21. I met Paul once, he came over to England and visited us at the UK Music Master offices. He certainly doesn't have 95% of everything ever released as his books prove. He was alright though.
  22. better not, my missus expects us to pay the rent with these for months to come
  23. Bet you feel refreshed now Mark!
