Hang on a minute, it's not a reactivation at all, people who know it have had it since it was first discovered and have been playing it ever since, just because some higher profile DJ comes along and starts playing it, it doesn't wipe out everything that's happened with it in the previous 25 years or undermine the people who have had it and played it.

is it a US acetate? Sounds blue eyed. Dunno who it is though, sorry. Nice track.
-
I had this in 1989-90, does this make me a top DJ ahead of my time?
-
Have to say that we had cheese on toast and jam on toast made like this in the 60's, I don't mean on a breville but just a sandwich, toasted - surely not a 70's innovation.

Hey Russ, you wanted someone to name you a better record than this costing under £500, I could name you a thousand better records than this under £500. Make that five thousand. Except I haven't got time. Is this better than Al Kent - The way you've been acting lately, for instance? Is it better than "Please let me in"?
-
It's not got the wurlitzer organ sound on the acetate.

Never heard of this, what is it?
-
John Manship's already done a book on this subject where he illustrated every Northern rarity over £500 or something like that, came out 5 years ago, it's the only chance I'm ever going to get of seeing most of these records.
-
I was listening to that Christine Schumacher record only yesterday, after a slightly nervous beginning she does really well for a total amateur, great stuff.
-
I'll do em for you if you get stuck
-
Thats a bit picky, I'd have used the same expression!
-
The rarest records I've had and sold on were Ray Agee - I'm Losing Again and Mr Lucky - I Was Born To Love You. I rate Ray Agee in the top 500 ever. I rate Mr Lucky in the bottom 500 ever.
-
Marc is right, there's definitely a topic elsewhere about this. I still think that nobody would sing like that on purpose. * here you go, and it's Dobbers topic anyway, in the Wants section

New Podcast - " D J Special " (Reggae, Ska, Rocksteady)
Pete S replied to Pete S's topic in All About the SOUL
Yeah it's a goo tune mate, do a search for a track called "Skylarking", it's the original of this, then one called "Crabwalking" by Prince Jazzbo which is another Dj version -
Now that sounds like a good show to me!
-
Whether it featured Northern Soul or not, it was rubbish, as are every episode I've seen of this series, the two lead characters are totally unlikeable in every sense. Dreadful program.

A chance to catch up on some old classics. The records credited to Busters Allstars, King Edwards Allstars and individually to the likes of Baba Brooks, Don Drummond, Tommy McCook etc - these are all of course by The Skatalites. They appeared to credit the record to whoever did the best or longest solo! I'll do two or three of these in the next day or two. I love DJ records - the early ones I mean, where they utilise old rocksteady and reggae backing tracks and turn them into something completely new and different; it probably all started for me with "Double Barrel" back in 1971. When you scratch the surface you'll find an incredible quantity of DJ records but here for you are some of the best ever made. Let's be honest, I could have filled the whole thing up with U-Roy alone, but there are some awesome cuts here and also some interesting curiosities such as Alton Ellis becoming a toaster with Bam Bye and the only rare record on the UK Sioux label by Lloyd The Matador. Best of the lot? Probably a toss up between 'Rock Fort Shock', Scotty's 'Sesame Street' and I-Roy's 'Hot Bomb', but that's just me. Earliest cut here is probably D. Tony Lee's 'Cool Cool Rocksteady' on the tiny Collins Downbeat label from 1968, the latest is the Lone Ranger Studio 1 cut from the late 70's, but most tracks come from the golden period of 1970 to 1973. https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/dj-special/ U ROY — JUMP FOR JOY DILLINGER — TIGHTEN UP SKANK WINSTON WILLIAMS — LOVE VERSION SIR LORD COMIC — JACK OF MY TRADE LLOYD THE MATADOR — THE TRAIN CHARLIE ACE — CREATION VERSION DENNIS ALCAPONE — NUMBER ONE STATION BIG JOE — SWEET MELODY DENNIS ALCAPONE — EAST TO WEST DILLINGER — JOHN DEVOUR I ROY — THE DRIFTER I ROY — WHISKEY CHEST LLOYD THE MATADOR — THE FUGITIVE I ROY — HIJACKING I ROY — HOT BOMB WINSTON WILLIAMS — SWEET LIKE CANDY SIR HARRY — HEE CUP PRINCE FRANCIS — ROCK FORT SHOCK DENNIS ALCAPONE — FOREVER VERSION DENNIS ALCAPONE — LOVE ME VERSION DENNIS ALCAPONE — THE CONQUERER PHILLIP SAMUELS — WALKING STICK U ROY — DON'T STAY AWAY U ROY — WEAR YOU TO THE BALL DENNIS ALCAPONE — SHADES OF HUDSON KING SPORTY — INSPIRATION SCOTTY — SESAME STREET SHORTY THE PRESIDENT — UNDERWORLD WAY DON TONY LEE — COOL COOL ROCKSTEADY KING STITT — KING OF KINGS LONE RANGER — THE ANSWER LIZZY — THE RIGHT SONG ALTON ELIS — BAM BYE PHILLIPS SAMUELS — HOT STICK VERSION BIG YOUTH — COOL BREEZE U ROY JUNIOR — SHARPER THAN A RAZOR

So did I, but that was reinforced by the top of the pops film which had a girl walking through a vineyard! -
Audrey Slo - Gonna Find The Right Boy (Swan)
Pete S replied to Lambrettagp200's topic in Record Wants
I listed one last month on here for £75, I'm not kidding when I say I could have sold it 6 or 7 times, next time it'll be slightly higher than 75... -
OH ok I didn't realise that, so the tracks on the video have nothing to do with the labels?
-
This is going to sound highly dubious but I didn't know there was the opportunity to leave feedback for buyers, thought it was just sellers! Unless I did know once and just forgot!
-
This was already posted yesterday wasn't it?
