But it can't be used as a benchmark because it's an auction. Simple as that. Two people want something, the price will go higher and higher. If I can sell one for £40 last year, how can £270 be anywhere near a real price, and I do actually know a bit about UK label soul. If you were to ask me how much a minter should be, I'd say 100 to 125

MIne certainly doesn't have that. p.s. if you switch the macro button on your camera you should be able to get a good in focus close up of that

Have to disagree with you there Dave, think the ratio is 10 to 1 demos against issues, well of those that have passed through my hands - stands to reason that there are thousands of RCA white demos about against a handful of stock copies. Tiberius, thanks for the info also.

Having trouble pricing this one, The Cavaliers - Hold To My Baby - RCA black issue. I know how rare these issues are, but this one is only VG (plays better) with ringwear on the label. I would say £200 in mint so what, £75 in this condition?

My mate bought this as an original actually in Detroit but I'm pretty sure it's a boot, I've checked the bootleg guide but this has a few things in the run off I'm not sure about. It does not have an Archer stamp, if it does I can't see it. It has the tiny numbers 95 scratched in, AI B scratched in, and a weird mark like an m with something on top of it? There may be more but my eyes are pretty bad and I can't make anything else out clearly. Got to be a boot though, right?

You suspect correctly Dave, no Fontana demos between 62 and 68, only stickers/stamps on the label.

This is why I was "surprised" to see it listed at £175. Friend of mine always tells me how he laughs when he thinks of a review I wrote of this record in my fanzine back in 1990 "So and so says that this should be a three figure record - yes it should - £9.99"

Brian, that Ronnie & Robyn is a sort of 2nd reissue because Sidras Theme came out on it's own first with Blow Out The Candle on the B side in 1975, then Ronnie & Robyn / Sidras Theme came out in 1977. I sell it for £8 - £10. Others will charge you £20 - £25 for it no doubt. Mal C on here will tell you what the Jackie Wilson is worth.

Maybe if it's from the LP, I think the LP is a slower cut, but with the UK 45 having been recorded in the US, it seems weird that they'd use a different version just for the UK market.
