  1. I agreed to sell my copy of Joanne Courcey - I Got The Power, to Max Millward, I said I'd drop it off at his shop which was about 10 miles away from me, so I thought rather than have it on the seat next to me where it's bound to get broken, I'll put it in a mailer, so I slid it into a mailer which already had card board in it, it met with a bit of resistance so I pushed harder - and put my finger straight through it, leaving a 2cm crack from the edge. I gave it to Max, he was chuffed with it and gave me the £500 I was asking, I said no Max, look closer, and eventually he spotted the crack and I gave him £300 back...
  2. Look at the state of this, good grief! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7-inch-CONFUCIOUS-DON-DRUMMOND-/280958617043?pt=UK_Records&hash=item416a7045d3#ht_500wt_1414
  3. That white one is a stock copy as far as I know. It doesn't say promo anywhere on the label.
  4. Did I sell you that white Wand Maxine Brown Paul? If not, I sold it someone for either 15 or 20 quid. Had it for months or even 2 years, no interest whatsoever.
  5. Aah but it's not though is it Dave - it's a NORTHERN SOUL record though....one of the best
  6. He definitely shouldn't have missed that but when I was doing Beatin Rhythm I lost count of the new discoveries we found on CBS, I"m still finding them now even. This is my current favourite, IT'S NOT NORTHERN AND IT'S NOT SOUL but it's a brilliant, catchy record - give it a chance before you tell me I'm mad. It's also practically impossible to find...
  7. I paid £150 for a VG one in 1992, that was my first one.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR — CAN'T STOP LOOKING FOR MY BABY — RIC TIC VG++ 35.00 SOLD THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT IT PLAYS FANTASTIC. THE BAD NEWS, AND THE REASON FOR THE LOW LOW PRICE, IS THAT THIS COPY AT SOME POINT MUST HAVE GOTTEN STUCK TO ANOTHER RECORD AND WHEN THEY WERE SEPARATED SOME BAD LABEL DAMAGE WAS DONE. THERE ARE TEARS OVER THE TITLE, THE ARTISTS NAME CAN BE SEEN CLEARLY BUT THERE IS A BIG TEAR BELOW THAT. SO IF YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE, FOR 35 QUID THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE BARGAIN. 9. There's a great version of this by Big Maybelle too
  10. For Mr Prophonics 2029, I've got a white / green boot of Larry Hale "Once" here, in my own collection, I bought it in October 1976, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the sound quality at all. In fact I recorded it and posted it up so if you still insist it's poor quality, you can have a listen. https://www.divshare....ad/19529720-7d6 Edited slightly due to merging topics.
  11. Yes it's the first boot (never noticed any problems with the sound quality though) there's a second one, a counterfeit which has fooled many many people over the years, they even went to the trouble of putting drill holes on many of them.
  12. Absolutely Tone, one of the few records that make me feel that way too, such a sad sad record.
  13. Chalky there should also be an unissued Ad Libs version of You'll Always be In Style on there?
  14. Theses are great, I've got similar outtakes and studio stuff with Roddie Joy and Evie Sands plus insts and different takes of well known songs, they're off the last lot of Red Bird / Blue Cat cd's that came out. Similarly I've also got a mountain of Phil Spector tapes but seriously does anyone really want to listen to over 20 takes of Then He Kissed Me?
  15. That one with the sticker IS an original though, it was available quite widespread in the UK in 75 and 76 at the same time as the one without it...of course I'm Your Pimp was never a single so it does make you wonder, maybe they were made as exports to the UK deliberately
  16. Thought she did, well I think that was the intention when she originally moved? Dunno, I'll ask her.
  17. Gene, Nancy married an Italian chap and moved over to live there, she still puts lists out. I used to get some fantastic stuff from Nancy.
  18. Only five times actual value!
  19. I wish I had one of those vinyl cutting machines, what a great toy to have!
  20. I don't somehow think the whole world is going to be slugging it out over a crappy old record box...
  21. Just going off the subject for a second, I've been told that there's an alternate version of Burning Bush, same backing, different song, anyone know anything about this?
  22. No I love them but I have lost the capability to digest information. I'll rephrase it to say that Ginger is the person associated with first playing Burning Bush
  23. Stemmons Express not released on Grapevine. Del Capris 1978 spin. Tipton / Anderson 79 spins.
  24. Nor me. There was nothing to stop Richard playing Betty Boo in 1979 after it came out on Grapevine, I'm not saying that, just that it came across with a batch of unissued stuff and was played there and then in late 1977.
