  1. You're all forgetting the one record that bought more people onto the scene than any other - love it or hate it, it had a massive impact, most people didn't stay but some did and that's the important thing...the record was... FOOTSEE
  2. Not by this artist but someone in the reggae section sells these models of Skinheads and Suedeheads, they actually look quite good!
  3. I didn't see it but it came out twice, the red label one is rare and worth £150 to £200, the more common version maybe £125 - £150
  4. Someone mentioned earlier, there is an actual vinyl boot of it on a Gordy demo lookalike, that was done in the 90's
  5. Yes anyone who wanted it had to get themselves an acetate cut.
  6. Will try and replace it Tony
  7. I really rate this, I think the guys voice is fantastic, just wondered if anyone else liked it? I sold my UK Island copy a few weeks ago for £60, luckily picked another one up last week. The UK copy is credited to Llans Thelwell & His Orchestra but it's actually by Busty Brown.
  8. They finally put it out on This Is Northern Soul, a fantastic double cd containing stacks of then unissued Motown dancers. We previously all knew it as Come On Back To Me Baby though. It might have been on that bootleg Motown lp that came out in the 80's. p.s. that version on the cd is an alternate take which isn't as good as the faster take that was played out
  9. It is known Gene, it's from before my time so a very early 70's spin.
  10. I'm not doubting that for a minute and I think it's one of THE greatest discoveries ever, but everyone has their own starting record; for me, I think I can safely say, it was (of all things "The Joker") and I know why, because of that relentless, pounding beat which was just not like any of the 'normal' soul records I liked.

  12. I think there's a lot of records you could say that about Ady. I remember Harold Melvin "Get Out" being played at our youth club and everyone dancing to it, even the planks and the divs. I could probably think of a few more if my missus wasn't looking over my shoulder
  13. I love it and it's one of only about three Shrine's I've ever owned, but I'm not going to press the like button...
  14. Yeah white labels, black lettering, hand written info - got them off ebay for 9.99 the pair but there was no interest when I tried to sell them sadly
  15. No, disappeared ages ago for pennies..

  17. There's a kind of inbetween stage as well though, I had a Hank Ballard single from 1961 on UK Parlophone as two single sided test pressings!
  18. I did mate, well remembered, that was 24 years ago! I think there are a lot of rare London demos from around that time, I've had things like Fortune Teller and Unsatisfied, the Tommy Tucker is a rare one and the Justin JOnes might well be the rarest - but people have to remember that like Decca who distributed them, London pressed a sh*tload of demos so they possibly are not as rare as people would think or have us believe.
  19. I thought I'd seen most of the Black Swan label output until I got this recently, it's the great guitarist Ernest Ranglin backed by "The G.B.'s", who turn out to be the Graham Bond Organisation. This was obviously recorded in England and is one of those swinging hammond organ workouts with Ranglins distinctive guitar on part 2. Copies on Popsyche go from something like £39 to £100. It's no use to me as I don't collect the non-Ska records on the label so if anyone wants to make me a reasonable offer on it I'm happy to sell it, it's in lovely condition, I'd grade it as EX.
  20. He would not be lying mate because one of them had it sped up!
  21. Can imagine you trying to get it on the decks with the table attached to it LOL
  22. Is that year correct Andy, he told me they split after One In A Million failed to get a release
  23. Well I love it and am not afraid to admit it! Someone sent me a tape (sorry I never knew who it was which is why I never said thanks) of Warrington Parr Hall late 77 and it has Pat Brady playing Baja Marimba Band (as Mike Post - Feelings). This is a great tape actually, all newies of the time, except there is NO atmosphere at all, such a shame.
  24. Can anyone beat my stupidity in putting 25 rare ska and reggae 45's in the dishwasher to give them a "rinse" but setting it to the wrong program and melting them all? My first test run had worked like a dream...
  25. Ian that was one of the funniest things I"ve read on here, thanks for sharing it. Dave, in answer to your question, what's it worth? Is there any point in me answering, as you always disagree with me LOL Right I've been selling a lot of London demos lately, some of which I'd never had before and which must be very very scarce, except the value doesn't reflect that. Even pop things like Dick & Dee Dee - The Mountains High - how often do you see a demo of that? Or Gene McDaniels - Tower Of Strength demo? Booker T - Green Onions demo? These are all very very hard to come by. If I was selling the Fats Domino record on a demo I'd ask £75, on an issue £15 in fact I have an issue for £15.
