  1. From Market Harbourough. Two good singles, Don't Change It, excellent brass-dominated Northern dancer, Love Sink And Drown midtempo sound, both on Decca, 1968.
  2. HE DID, BUT HE PLAYED IT OFF A 10" PRE RELEASE ACETATE! He had it for several weeks before it was released.
  3. Don't think so,most of them had a go with the new format I think, Salsoul 3001, Cathedrals etc, most of the new 12" things got at least one spin. I've still got a tape I recorded in mid 76 featuring the 12" version of "Like Her" which really did go on a bit.
  4. I remember Keith Minshull playing the 12" of Miroslav Vitous at Wigan, I think it was at least 15 minutes long, talk about killing the night instantly.
  5. Think I got £60 for an EX one about 6 weeks ago. A beat up playable one - £30?
  6. Odd question Dave, why would there be a connection? His name was Harold Thomas I think.
  7. Roy Gelder's copy, bought it into the record fair this morning to show me it exists..
  8. Steve, read Godzilla's thread again, the entire discussion is about this record, it was a very minor cover up spin and I remember people describing it as the instrumental to Yvonne Baker. yeah right. It's terrible.
  9. A copy of Ken Boothe's Everything I Own - a record which got to number one and is so common that giving it away for free is almost overcharging - not only does this seller have the worst copy on the planet, but he also wants £14 for it https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ken-Boothe-Everything-I-Own-Trojan-7-ORIG-/200823036066?pt=UK_Records&hash=item2ec1fc58a2#ht_500wt_1180
  10. Yeah I know it's got a listing and a number but has anyone got one?
  11. Solomon King
  12. Nope. Denbo on here has been advertising for this in Wants forever and nobody has found him one. Did it actually come out on Stateside?
  13. You can't make sweeping statements like that Duncan, I would have, and indeed do sell it for £25 to £50 less than you were asking for it so please don't tar everyone with the same brush! I make sure that I sell records as cheap as or cheaper than almost everyone else.
  14. If you look after acetates, they don't wear out, I've got some made in 74/75 which are as good as new after 100's of plays. You can't cue them in though, they dig up immediately. The thing is, with Frank Wilson available on at least 3 different bootlegs, 2 Tamla Motown issues and probably more, what could anyone gain by owning an acetate of it, now if it were an acetate of the SOUL 45 then maybe yes, that would be worth something, but an acetate of a 1979 reissue? I've had lots of acetates from the 60's which came out a few weeks later as 45's, mainly from the Pye stable, Chubby Checker, Newbeats that sort of thing, I rate them as being less valuable as the demos.
  15. so true
  16. I've had that on Jamaican but I don't think they are demo copies, I think they are just white issues.
  17. Because the musical content is the same as the issued 45. Plus anyone can cut an acetate and stick a label on it. It's like a pirate copy of a movie, fine for a few weeks then when it comes out on dvd, totally irrelevant.
  18. A fair price for Ruben Howell would be £30 / £40 but since some lunatic paid £100 for it in auction everyone now thinks it's worth double what it really is..

  20. I can think of a handful of UK production that came out on Stateside Robb, Kenny Miller is one, The Untamed is another, the link being American producer Shel Talmy who produced both records.
  21. Loads of Philly reissues have Virtue scratched in Sue. Looks like the boot to me.
  22. Pre-release acetates are worth no more than stock copies once they have been released.
  23. Yeah / no / I don't know what you were asking me. I said I found that crappy Motown instrumentals LP yesterday, which I put a picture up of and said was shocking. Then you said which one, which I took to meant, which track is shocking. So I said "all of them".
  24. All of them!
