  3. I'd say they are about equally as rare, I can only go on how many copies I've had, and I've had 4 issues and 1 demo of Chapter Five and three issues (there are no demos) of Frankie & The Classicals. Having said that, Chapter Five is worth every penny of whatever anyone pays for it whereas I think the Frankie & The Classicals at £389 is £89 too expensive.
  4. My Lou Ragland story takes place in 1984. As some people know, I was a huge Bowie collector and loved to collect live tapes, I made friends with a girl called Julie in Hartford CT, and we did loads of swaps, anyway the one day I asked her if, next time she was in New York, she might be able to check out any record shops and gave her a small list of titles. About a month later, a package arrived containing Lou Ragland on Amy, The Larue on decca demo, Kenny Smith on Gar, Dean Courtney on MGM demo and...wait for it..Carmel Strings she paid something like $3 apiece for these and charged me 5 live tapes for them.
  5. Well it was me who told them it was The Ad Libs, because it is - it's on the Blue Cat cd with outtakes etc on...that's all I can tell you
  6. Whats the one you use, that always seems to work ok
  7. In fact what I do is check Popsike, check JM, and then do a search on soul source. If it's on here, and it sold, I use that as the guide and not the others.
  8. Thats the one Craig. I shall only use divshare from now on.
  9. This might be new to many of you, this is one of my favourite ever Jamaican 60's soul tracks, Glen Walton have you still got my Uk copy? Anyway this is PATSY now here's where it gets confusing, this track is known under a few different titles: TRUE LOVE I HELD YOUR HAND CAN'T BELIEVE FIND SOMEONE and to make matters more confusing, the one I've got is labelled as BABA BROOKS - FIRST SESSION !! crossed out and has PATSY - TRUE LOVE written on it of course does play PATSY anyway after all that, I want £50 for it, last Ebay one I can see went for $111, someone got one for £26 recently but that's a 1975 repress. this is a clip of a copy on the same label as mine
  10. My opinion is that the book doesn't need to be so big as it is, and this could be done by excluding anything that's £15 (maybe even £20) or under, this would make a massive space which if necessary could be used for the bootleg guide, which everyone agrees is extremely useful. The lower end of the collecting scene is full of thousands of records that you can't give away let alone sell.
  11. No what I was surprised about is that auction player is, I think, owned by ebay, who also own paypal, so I didn't think I'd get a result due to that
  12. Thought this may be of interest as it was quite unexpected. There is a company, used to be called Auction Player, now they're called something else, well anyway, you use them to put audio clips on ebay basically. I took out a subscription a couple of months back as I knew I was going to be selling a lot of obscure records so people might want to hear them. Cost £60. Anyway about 3 weeks back, I put 50 items up for auction, but I couldn't add the audio clips, something was wrong with their servers. This went on for days, and most of my auctions ended with me being unable to add clips (I added a load via Divshare in the end). So I thought well, I paid for a subscription that I wasn't able to use, I'll see if I can get my money back as this could happen again and it's basically contributing to loss of earnings. To my surprise, paypal found in my favour and gave me the money back yesterday! Which was nice.
  13. Didn't you write the intro?

  16. I sold a Spanish tri-centre last year, I think it may have been promo only.
  17. I sold one about 2 weeks back, £15 or £20, set sale.
  18. The artists name on this one should actually be Andy Capp but something must have got lost in translation https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Handicap-Pap-a-Top-K-Cannon-Inst-Soul-Pipe-RANDYS-USA-7-N-MINT-/170888581971?pt=UK_Records&hash=item27c9c0d353
  19. Jethro packed in Wigan in mid 76, well at least I didn't see him there much after that, his time was 74-75 really and he was an awesome dancer, not disputing that, just saying by the time they filmed This England, that had all died out - until those two weekends when the filmed it
  20. Major is great on that show but I thought he nicked all his moves from James Brown...
  21. You did the right thing.
  22. Was great when I was getting into Northern, late 74 through 1975, plus I was pretty good at it. After that, pretty naff, especially when you see people on This England doing it, it had died out long before then but now the impression people get is that it was still going strong at Wigan when that was filmed, but most of those people on that film were not regulars and you rarely saw anything like that, apart from in the Bolton corner :-). Only spinning was still popular at the time.
  23. POSTED ON BEHALF OF MICK SMITH PLEASE CONTACT HIM AT THE NUMBER BELOW AND NOT ME!
