  1. That was number 16 in the all time top 100 I did.
  2. Sold my Simon Soussan book for £50 and my Boss Sounds reggae book for £45, bought Patsy on Doctor Bird so have a tenner left over
  3. I didn't move to Brighton and I had no transport, friends or money, maybe I should have learned how to teleport?
  4. Had you even left school in 1980?
  5. OK Chalky, you can now rewrite the history of Northern Soul yourself, the scene did not experience a lull when Wigan closed in fact every venue was packed to the rafters
  6. Kev it costs £2.15 for 1st class recorded and no extra for the next two records, I send a hundred a week at this price mate. First class, unrecorded, costs around £1. If anything you want to ask him why he is charging £1.25 for any extra record when he can send 3 for exactly the same price as 1. I've just got 4 non payer strikes against me for refusing to pay some fool doing this with me, tried charging a fiver standard post for four records.
  7. Well you might have seen me up til 1984 Chalky but then I moved a long long way away and only attended events when I went back home...funny cos by coincidence, I don't remember seeing you either
  8. You're missing the point of what I'm trying to say, the numbers were low, very low. Nobody can deny that, as nobody can deny that the internet bought it all together again.
  9. No I was just stating a fact that NS almost disappeared in the 80's...
  10. What he meant was that the numbers diwndled to a point where there were only about 1000 people actively on the scene in the early and mid 80's, then lots of people began to return in the 90's, the cd's were part of that phenomenon and it's why the scene is as healthy as it is nowadays, petty arguments nonstanding.
  11. Epitome Of Sound must be one of them?
  12. No I didn't Carl, it went for more than I would have paid for it anyway, despite someone very kindly offering to cover my bid for me.
  13. Kev having bought this book twice already, should I buy it again? Not knocking it, I think it's in the top 3 books ever, but is it a lot different from edition 2?
  14. I've never even heard of these! We had 'Skinners' but they were these parrallel jeans with about 24" bottoms, in denim or in white, white ones caught on big time after A Clockwork Orange.
  15. If ever you get the chance to find a copy, have a listen to the program at this link https://www.bbc.co.uk...rammes/b00g3yqn it's not available from the BBC but will be available from certain places, I have got it but would need to upload it somewhere
  16. Can you name one that's earlier than 1969 then? I probably need to re-read Clinton Heylin's book on the subject but I'm positive he says the first accepted rock bootleg came out in 69. Not that I'm getting into an argument about it..
  17. Yeah thats the one. Writers workshop, there were a few of these, I had the original songwriter demo of "Marble and iron" except it was terrible. (How did they get an artist name though?)
  18. That was a one-off acetate that someone put on Ebay about 4 years ago, when they first put it up they had a full sound clip so I recorded it and kept hold of it just in case I ever needed something obscure for a podcast like this. Uncredited artist. Well done for spotting it because nobody has ever made the slightest comment on it before (in the context of this podcast)!
  19. No I had maybe 150 Bowie vinyl bootleg albums and the rest were audio tapes, I actually recorded 13 shows on the 1987 tour myself! My ex wife ended up with all of the Bowie stuff. Hardly anyone has the original Diamond Dogs sleeve, it was pulled immediately and only pre-release copies are supposed to have escaped.
  20. Fantastic picture, such a shame there is so little from the period.
  21. No mate sorry, not got any PM's from you?
  22. Brad Lundy is horrible sound quality though, extremely quiet and on those pale blue copies, scratchy even on mint copies - thats why most people go with the Deena Johnson version. I think Little Anthony is an LP only track. Both have probably had 'minor' spins out.
