  1. Sorry but my brain just isn't working, I have done an ebay sales advert, uploaded a file to divshare, got the link from divshare and put it into my ebay advert, but it is just showing as a link which has to be copied and pasted, and not a player - can anyone tell me what I've done wrong? https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110979799879&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT
  2. Yes but Jock the more people write epistles like yours above, the longer the debate will continue, nearly 6000 views and 5 pages worth of publicity already - Kev must be laughing his arse off at you/me/us. I'm not a big fan of Mello Souls but for it not to be in the top 10 is plain crazy. In my opinion.
  3. No it would probably be something like £50 for international parcel post I should think - can't be sure but doubt if more than £100. Nice lot of records that, if I had the money...
  4. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/mayfairmenthol/m.html?_ipg=48&_sop=10&_rdc=1 cheap!
  5. I'm not sure the DSR ratings mean much in the UK, I've seen people with like 20 negatives, 30 neutrals and 4.6 star ratings yet they are still here
  6. The one in the picture with the tri centre has been the subject of controversy on here before, most people thought it was a version of the 1976 release which came out in the UK, Spain etc, but it turns out it's an original 1965 or 66 release and must be phenomenally rare. Paul I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for one of those to turn up, get the red UK London demo instead.
  7. She already did, that's why there's a big link to her ebay sale in her first post
  8. What on earth is a "Jean Genie" record apart from being a David Bowie classic?
  9. It is isn't it, absolutely fantastic. I remember when I was about 6, some kind from round the block gave me his Man From Uncle secret pen as a swap for something of mine, can't remember what, turns out it was just an ordinary ball point pen that did nothing at all but write, my Dad went round his house for a word with his Dad
  10. Al Kent version of Festival Time?
  11. It was an airplay and minor chart hit so it would have been too familiar in the early and mid 70's. That Del Davis record is truly terrible and is also reggae.
  12. Yeah it was definitely The Supremes Steve, hence my surprise. I wasn't going in 74 but in 76, 77, there were several oldies that had been reactivated and were being played in the main room, things like Waterfall, Wanting You, Shane Martin, Garnet Mimms, Green Door, Walter Jackson - Flowers.
  13. Have to agree with you, been saying this ever since I heard it, sounds like they wrote the song to fit the music way after the instrumental had been finished, like one of the first tailor mades!
  14. First time I ever went to Wigan I heard Dave Evison play The Supremes - Baby Love. I honestly wondered what was going on. As for him playing The Letter - that's one of the greatest records ever, but playing it at Wigan is just crazy, surely. Sweet Talking Guy does sound really good as an instrumental, no idea how they got that backing track. I think Stoned Love is a great record but at the end of the day it's a CHART HIT and that was exactly the sort of stuff we were trying to get away from when we got into Northern wasn't it? Great down the youth club, but you wouldn't want to travel the 80 miles to Wigan to hear it, the idea was to travel to hear rare records that couldn't be heard in mainstream outlets' hence making it - and us - stand apart from the rest of the crowd.
  15. No but that sounds like a great mix, and it's not being advertised as a NS night, so no probs whatsoever
  16. Usually when it says 'it's in our system' they've lost it...
  17. That's terrible like all his attempts at DJ records
  18. I was trying to advocate this on here 10 years ago and everyone said I was a tw*t for even suggesting it. Now it's flavour of the month and they have separate ska rooms at venues. n.b. at that do in Dudley they let me do a ska room for 2 weeks then the next time they changed it to an r&b room without even telling me, that would have been 2004/2005. I think separate rooms are a good idea but I don't see any point in integrating the different types of music in one big room if you're advertising a Northern Soul event
  19. I mean thats very poor because the sender is actually paying for a 'signed for' service, my postman will sign it when I'm not in but not on special delivery, only recorded.
  20. Do you mean they don't even attempt to deliver it? That needs to be reported.
  21. Kev, people love to dance to them, fine, but at the end of the day, Double Barrel and The Maytals are out and out reggae classics,. I just don't see where they fit in.
  22. Yes but it's a reggae record, that's the point I'm trying to make, is this a new genre - Northern Reggae?
  23. I'm sure the ones who played at The Casino had a girl in the group so probably not the originals...
  24. They did indeed, it was 78, and me and my then girlfriend Gill went backstage and cracked them up, I bet they left the UK the next day never to return
  25. My best Deram's are Danny Williams ' Whose Little Girl Are You and Double Feature - Baby get your head screwed on. Oh and The Laughing Gnome of course.
