  1. Touch Of Velvet, A Sting Of Brass? The Marketts on WB, that's got The Avengers Theme on the other side, both really good versions.
  2. This is a great Jackie Opel soul track (sounds a bit off centre on this recording), the A side is better though (The Soul Boys - Rudie Get Wise)
  3. You mean "Dan the Bummer"! I did, he only came down to do the cheap wednesday nights when everything was 5p a ride
  4. I did, in fact I couldn't get used to hearing Big Six by Judge Dread at 45!
  5. That was also the first LP I ever bought Steve - and I've still got a copy (not the original one, that literally wore out). One of the greatest lp's ever.

  7. If anyone wants to go back to page one of this thread and read the first post, I actually have a spare copy of this now on a blank JJ UK prerelease for £15 if anyone wants it! VG+
  8. Nobody would know that but him. When I first read that I was 14 and he was so famous he could have been a pop star or something, never dreamt I'd ever get to know him. If I ever speak to him again I'll ask him but he's avoiding me by the looks of it.
  9. You'll find the answer in one of Ian's columns in the monthly "Black Music" magazines. It's a made up title. From my article on the subject written in 1988 "August 1974: Other sounds reviewed were Aldora Britton-No Cookies In My Bag (Decca), Pam Colquitt-It’s Gotta Be Love (Jacklyn), Detroit Soul Masters-Stirrin’ Up Some Soul (Jacklyn)(is this a real record or was Levine making it up — he says that he is ‘yet to hear it’), Dean Courtney- We Have A Good Thing (RCA) and Lenny Williams-I Couldn’t Find Nobody (Fantasy)". https://www.rare-soul.com/wordpress/about/the-northern-soul-explosion/
  10. You're right, it sold by the shedload
  11. Yeah that is East Coast, you said West Coasts were vinyl, I disagreed.
  12. I remember Andy Rix sending me the backing track to Sister Lee by Sam Ward and it was the most boring record I've ever heard! I thought it was going to be great...
  13. Watchootalkinbout Steve. Most West Coast issues are styrene and if it doesn't have a raised X it's a bootleg.
  14. I don't know what that it is but it sounded like it was in stereo, just think it would be great in mono. (I still think one of the best instrumentals ever would have been the backing track to I'll Always Need You by Dean Courtney).
  15. What do you think of it Dave, as a kind of 'connoisseur' of this type of record (i.e. UK produced Northern) I think this is a terrible record
  16. Ady as you know, I know very little about music, but I honestly think you should turn that into a mono recording then it would EXPLODE out of the speakers
  17. Very reluctantly selling my jukebox. It's called a Harting Rendezvous and I believe it dates back to about 1968. The sound quality is fantastic, it's in perfect working order except it needs one adjustment, the stylus is currently landing about ten seconds into each record, there's a screw that needs to be turned to get it to land on the edge but I've not been able to access it. If you need any more information please ask. cheers Pete
  18. It's this one below, don't know anything about it apart from the fact that it's German made, Harting Rendezvous, holds 70 records, carousel system. It's just taking up room being shut in here with me, needs to be enjoyed by someone. I may put it in sales I think.
  19. Nothing posh about the jukebox mate, it's hardly a wurlitzer, cost me £700 from Wolverhampton indoor market. Massive booming sound and doesn't damage the records. So if anyone wants a jukebox, I have one for sale, £700....
  20. Ebony Keyes, hmm never liked this but that Spyders is eye-popping! What a find.
  21. Don't think you'll get that much but good luck, £200 - £250 I'd have sold it for, except I haven't got one so I can't...
  22. I know Andy from Ian Levine's old forum but don't know him personally, I'm sure Rob will fill you in
