  1. I'd say 50% of 60's ska and reggae tracks are dubbed from disc. So many UK releases are dull in comparison to the Jamaican originals. Good example, The Wailers - Whats New Pussycat, try and hear both releases, what a difference.
  2. That sampler came out well into the run of Goldmine / Soul Supply cd's mate. Yours came out before they joined forces. I'll show you the sampler in a sec, it's in the garage.
  3. Chalky that cd of yours was the first ever Northern CD I think. It's rubbish quality, having been dubbed straight off it's vinyl equivalent (it was one of the last Soul Supply double lp's which was condensed down for cd). As you say, very hard to find though.
  4. Lathe for sale. Can be hung on a wall.
  5. Absolutely true Joan, you really did need to have an apprenticeship on the scene before you became accepted.
  6. Emi not worth much to be honest, the fact it's got two records on it that have never been pressed, you might get what you paid for it. Joy Kramer = Linda Elliot.
  7. I've got 2 copies of that, I've not been able to sell it because Amazon (where I sell all my cd's) requires a bar code number and that release doesn't have one!
  8. Mark the version of Rosemary on Grapevine is a previously unissued version with extra backing vocals.
  9. https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/soul-for-sale/ Not sure about the title - I probably had them for sale when I originally did the podcast in 2010! 10. Yes that's an brilliant track, sounds like a slower version of You Got To Pay The Price, the tune I mean...nice on a green and white Stateside demo...
  11. Thanks Mike, always good to know!
  12. Did I f*ck... on the upside - at least it's paid for now, but still sat where it's been for 22 months..
  13. Wish I could buy stuff for £600 just for a laugh... "what you got there Pete" "Oh it's a Lathe, I bought it for a laugh" "Oh thats alright then"
  14. Didn't go to a single allnighter, soul event or do of any description. Didn't even go to a pub. Had to sell my personal collection which was something I said I'd never do. Did some interesting podcasts. That just about sums my 2012 up.
  15. I love that "Young Girl" demo. Demos of chart singles are really tough to find. I have a Stateside demo of "The Letter" by The Box Tops, I'd never sell it, but I've never seen another. Another rare 'chart' one I had was a Decca demo of "Go Now" (Moody Blues). Same with some of the soul ones as well though, things like "Baby Love" are very rare on demo.
  16. I doubt if anyone is going to come on and say they prefer When We Get There to Can't Help Loving You!
  17. Well I'm telling you that ISF only gets it to the airport, thats why it costs less than airsure. Either that, or at least 2 dozen postal staff have been lying to me for 10 years Even paypal recommend not using ISF. Airsure is tracked all the way to delivery, but no signature is taken.ISF is signed-for but only tracked until leaving UK
  18. Fraid not mate. I know of about 5 versions of that song including Cilla's, and only Barry St John's version is uptempo, the others are all midtempo. Weird.
  19. No it doesn't Mace, international signed for just gets it to the airport - trust me, I've sent hundreds like this. Airsure: Visible - Royal Mail Track & Trace provides peace of mind by tracking the item up to the point of delivery and providing delivery confirmation online.
  20. Airsure gets you a signature at the door - but International Signed For only gets a signature from the airport to say it arrived in the country...
  21. She did a few covers: "Yo Yo", "Everything I touch Turns To Tears", "Stranger In My Arms".... I made the last one up...
  22. I've definitely got one from 1985, it was the small size one, I saw it about 3 weeks ago so all I need to do is remember where I saw it!
  23. (Nate Evans - Main Squeeze) It was, it was about £125 then but I'd never heard of it so just thought it was soul pack junk. Someone did ring me and tell me, but I let him have it for the cheap price anyway..
