  1. Pot calling kettle black alert
  2. The live one is the second one mate, this one is the first one, same as the ABC 45 with Solitary Woman on B side
  3. Babelfish translator
  4. From an article I did for Record Collector mamazgine, comments by John Anderson, not sure about RED 2 though RED 1 BRIMSTONE INGRAM: “What Happened To The Songs” * Acouple of singles were issued with a red label and a different prefix, in an attempt to promote modern soul product. The red label was just to make Grapevine more contemporary, by splitting it in two for different types of music. All those Funkadelic guys played the backing on this; they were session players as well. They looked a bit wild because they dressed like they did on stage colourfully. But it was a kinda pop record, really. Brimstone Ingram was the Detroit Emeralds bandleader. RED 3 LEO’S SUNSHIPP: “Give Me The Sunshine” * We had a red label album by Leo’s Sunshipp ready to put out. It was the cult import LP of the time — we had that, plus beefed up re-recorded versions and new songs, taped for a new album. But the tape got lost for posterity! We got this from YONS Records in Atlanta. Kenny Stover was in the band, from some 70s Motown group.
  5. I'm surprised people dance to Interplay nowadays. At the time it first got played at Wigan there was quite a buzz about it, I remember some of our lot went to St Ives and heard it there, we asked Richard the next week at Wigan about it and he said he'd heard of it and had got a copy on the way, the next week he got it and played it, so there was a buzz about it, at Wigan anyway, before it was even played. So perhaps it's one of those "you had to be there at the time" sort of records, same as the Gary Lewis pictured above, I wasn't old enough to attend when that was played but I have heard tapes with it on from 74 and it sounds fine played really loud. n.b. Jim I am not questioning as to whether you were there at the time!
  6. Right, the red ones are a very late series, they came after the yellows finished I think, there are either two or three releases, also available on 12" singles.
  7. BEN AIKEN - SATISFIED / THE LIFE OF A CLOWN - LOMA YELLOW ISSUE SOLD Am grading this one at VG++. It has an couple of marks and scuffs and a few dull background clicks. Absolutely nothing to detract from the record whatsoever, it plays great. It has a drill hole near the centre hole. Price £60 and if it doesn't play like I say it does, money back guarantee. Free post in UK
  8. Don't understand the question...seriously
  9. So you joined up under that name and pretended to be French just to say that there may be some mistakes in the book, nice one Except this was important because it was a record I was about to sell so I thought I'd try and get confirmation that it was indeed a typo. The price of some of these pressings nowadays...
  10. Steve I've made you a ringtone of the intro to Satisfied, but the problem is, creating ringtones with itunes means you have to have the first 30 seconds, I've not worked out how to shorten it. All you have to do choose your song right click it to get properties go into options set the timer from zero to 30 seconds click okay and it will the save a 30 second segment (this can of course be from any part of the track) then keep the track highlighted but go to FILE and SHOW IN FINDER change the extension to M4R. Changing it to R means you can import it as a ringtone. Steve I'll PM you the one I did for you.
  11. I can do that for you I think...let me have a go
  12. Pleasantly surprised to hear that mate, it's a good record. I've never heard it played out since 1977 personally, but it's always been hard to get (the 'proper' version I mean)
  13. Thank goodness for that, I've got a Loma issue I want to sell but wasn't sure of the price.
  14. For sale: DELLA REESE - IT WAS A VERY GOOD YEAR - UK HMV 1553. NEAR MINT. SOLD This is the 'proper' version, not the one released a year later which is totally different, re-recorded version. Very very tough on a UK stock copy. £40 plus £2.15 postage if anyone is interested. cheers Pete
  15. Ben Aiken - Satisfied. Listed at 250 for Loma demo. 150 for Loma issue. 150 for Out Of The Past bootleg. So unless this is some kind of error, an Out Of The Past bootleg - which I sell for £10 incidentally - is worth as much as an original Loma issue. Tell me I'm missing something here...misprint? anyone want me Skiing In The Snow bootleg for £150?
  16. Only that Popsike is selective about what it chooses to list...
  17. What does it have? All I can hear are out of tune instruments and someone who can't sing to save their lives? This was the first time I've ever heard this record, is it one of those joke records that people pay to make themselves?
  18. What's not soulful about I Walked Away? It's got everything including the kitchen sink. An absolutely perfect all nighter record. Not one of my favourites but I can see why it's popular. And what Bobby Goldsboro record is even played let alone 'packs floors' in 2012?
  19. Is that a real record or someone's idea of a joke?
  20. The OOTP is about 2 years old.
  21. Try my garage and shed, I've got 50's, 100's, 200's, 300's....got more boxes than I've got records
  22. Absolutely, I've never even heard of that grade but now that I have, I can't believe someone invented it. It's EX or EX+ basically. Near Mint means played two or three times. Near Mint Minus, whats that mean, played six or seven times?
  23. Don't agree. Backing track is fantastic.
  24. Great record...
  25. If I were you I'd repackage it and send it back by Airsure. Don't do that "return to sender" business, it'll be in the system for weeks.
