  1. Chalky that was brilliant, people often don't appreciate that what takes them 5 minutes to read, can take days or weeks of preparation and proofing, I really enjoyed that especially as was down south for the entire period and missed lots of what was going on up North. Take a bow mate.
  2. A huge pile of Soul albums for sale. To make life simple they are £15 each across the board INCLUDING POST. This is with the exception of the Don Gardner Lp which is brand new (no single) and The Chiffons which are £20 including postage. Some of the Motown albums are German reissues probably from the 70's. Just ask if you need to know anything, the conditions will mainly be EX to Mint but again, just ask and I'll supply details. If anyone wants the lot I will sell them at 50% discount, collection only.

  3. I repeat that any dealer worth his salt will never, ever try to pass on a pressing as an original. Sadly this hasn't always been the case.
  4. I deleted my previous comments because it does seem that the copy in question actually was an original and not a lookalike, and I don't want to cast aspersions if I've got it wrong
  5. Well it was me who used the phrase vanity project so I apologise for that, obviously the wrong term. When these types of record are made, I have no qualms about them, I don't get involved in the rights and wrongs of copyright, what I do object to is when someone purposely sells one as an original to deceive somebody.
  6. This is the danger. I would sell my copy of The Magnetics as a very limited lookalike, but what happens if six months down the line, a shitload turn up.
  7. I remember that as well, was on X Factor USA I think, he'd never heard of the song
  8. Kev's right, the UK release is a tough one. Nice version by Kiki Dee on her Motown LP by the way.
  9. For Sale: THE VIP's - I WANNA BE FREE - UK ISLAND Same as Joe Tex - very rare Mod 45 VG++ £30 BARBARA LEWIS - HELLO STRANGER - SWEDISH ATLANTIC EX £10 TOMMY QUICKLY - YOU MIGHT AS WELL FORGET HIM - UK PICCADILLY £30 Stone mint copy, better known as Walk The Streets by Derrick Harriott DEE DEE WARWICK - GOTTA GET A HOLD OF MYSELF / WE'RE DOING FINE - DUTCH MERCURY £40 Stunning pic cover minter, two great sides, We're Doing Fine is the prototype of P.P. Arnold's "Everything Is Gonna Be Alright" and "Gotta Get A Hold Of Myself" is a fine beat ballad. Post extra. Please message if interested, cheers.
  10. If I paid someone to make me a lookalike record I'd call that a vanity project. It is also a bootleg, obviously.
  11. my info was incorrect hence me deleting it
  12. Really? That's deception.
  13. Come on folks, these aren't proper bootlegs, they are previous reissues with photocopy labels stuck on them, if people can't see through this, even though the bloke tells you what they are, then more fool them. The James Conwell Jr boot is one of the rarest of the lot...
  14. Any 'honest' dealer would tell the customer what they are getting. I've just heard of someone selling one of those Magnetics at the price of an original. That's plain deception and the seller should be ashamed.
  15. I've never seen the Rufus Lumley LP in mono, wish I had that not stereo
  16. Also on the same subject - the person posting it on FB - when I got the Magnetics, did anyone see me (or anyone else) posting it up and saying wow guys, do you think this is an original? Answer - no - wasn't interested in showing it off, getting opinions, anything, just put it away and forgot about it. As opposed to posting it on FB the second I got it.
  17. Who do you have to ask if you can play them out, is there a panel of citizens who have to sign a document saying you're allowed to? Why do people pander to these idiots? Do what you have to do, don't take any notice of anyone else.
  18. He would have indeed Steve - 100%. The only reason for posting is to 'show it off'.
  19. I am shocked Ted. Although the fact I paid nothing for it did get me suspsicious
  20. With those two side by side, I can say with 100% confidence, the scan on the right is the wrong colour, the green is much darker, but I can't get my iphone to take a decent shot of it so you could see
  21. Ted going by the centre you appear to have the same kitchen worktop as I do, how about that!
  22. You mean like these newcomers who are KNOWINGLY paying £100 for a Jimmy Mack with stuck on photocopy labels?
  23. Not saying it's a bad record, it isn't, it's great, but I've not heard it played for many a year. The issue is beautiful, I sold one about 5 years back but it was £125
  24. Around 150 minutes worth of classic UK label releases. I tried to mix it so that you get one USA production followed by one UK production, this works right up until the end when I ran out of material. The quality is pretty consistent though some of the British productions get a bit ropey towards the end, I could only play what I have on vinyl so I’m missing stacks of things from my old collections.
