  1. It's one of those 'nice memory' type things. But it is ridiculously cheap Phil.
  2. I'm a record dealer and I'm not worried. I'm facing up to reality so at least when it happens I'll be prepared.
  3. As I say, two pleasant sides, nothing special, the original Sweets track is ten times better anyway.
  4. I still wouldn't bet on that though, people only know about the play out copies, I wouldn't have known about the one I mentioned had she not told me, doesn't play out or brag about it..I remember when there were only a handful of 'known' copies of Court Davis, I bought one off a rockabilly collector, totally off the radar. People were saying well there's only half a dozen but they were wrong...as for the record...I've said this before, I think this is a 70's release because you can hear synth overdubs on it. Two nice sides, nothing special.
  5. I'll have some of whatever he's smoking...
  6. You can't make statements like that, how do you know who's got it - I know a lady collector (there are some serious ones) in Cheshire who has it. You'd be surprised how many have these things but don't brag about it.
  7. You keep missing the point. Nobody's saying your vinyl is going to become worthless. I'm saying the market for NORTHERN SOUL RECORDS will shrink as time progresses for obvious reasons. i.e. most of us will be dead or not far off it
  8. Just a reprise of my all time favourite mis-spelt title...always makes me smile (you have to click the picture) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BOBBY-KALPHAT-CUNTER-PUNCH-UK-FAITH-REGGAE-70s-REGGAE-/370739594994?pt=UK_Records&hash=item5651cd46f2
  9. That's a great thing you're doing. Never heard of the people but I'll be happy to send a $5 donation. I think you may be disappointed in the price you get for your Dee Edwards though, I sold one 2 weeks ago and it was at half the book price, I doubt if anyone's ever got near that price with it.
  10. It was me who started this and I'm not doom mongering, I'm talking sense. Let's say I live for another 10 years, then I die and leave my records to my then 17 year old son, he's going to say wow thanks Dad what am I meant to do with these? We are getting older and there are too few people coming onto the scene to replace us, and many of these people are from the digital age and only go for the music anyway, not for the collecting side of it. I'm not saying record collecting will die out, it never will, but there is sure to be a massive excess of Northern Soul records which nobody wants in the coming years.

  13. It's like when any 'sound' changes Frank, you can either go with it and see where it ends up or stick to what you like, Reggae in the 70's, although I used to buy a single every other week with my pocket money, never went anywhere for me. When I was a bit older, in the late 70's and onwards, I really loved dub and the dj (toasting) records and still do...but you know when people quote say Heart Of The Congos as being the best reggae album ever, I couldn't listen to more than one track without falling asleep. It's the same as asking a 50's R&B fan to start buying 80's electro music.
  14. IT was at one point, about 12 years back when the first copies started turning up, I sold quite a few at 50 quid or so....but as George says, not now
  15. Wow I wonder what happened to Candi Staton, I saw her supporting Al Green 4 years ago and she blew him off the stage, she was brilliant
  16. Blimey that's almost identical to what I said!
  17. If you think about it, your 50 plus, many more are 60 plus, what would you rather have, 10,000 singles or the money from 10,000 singles to share with your family? I know what I'd prefer. Money money money every time. 20 years ago I'd have said records records records.
  18. Yes basically, all these horrible roots and 'normal' reggae records from the 70's and 80's, I class these at about the same level as most 70's soul, it's pointless, meaningless, it has no energy and while I do appreciate the vocals, the musicians and the producers, many of whom are geniuses, the actual music is as uninteresting as anything I've ever heard. I wouldn't miss it if it all disappeared over night. Sorry. Just my opinion, I'm sure many of you feel the same way about decent Jamaican music from the 60's
  19. I'd be quick then because in 10 years time, there are going to be literally thousands of northern soul 45's floating around that nobody wants. Our kids don't want them, and we're all getting older and older...I also predict that in 10 years time cd's will have been phased out completely. yours, Nostradamus (Mrs.)
  20. One of the best ways to listen to music nowadays is just to put itunes on 'itunes DJ', it'll play you a constant stream of random tracks and every day you'll hear something new
  21. This is so true. I used to love doing c90 tapes of my records, then cd's. Though I usually put the same records on each one even nowadays I often don;t think it's "worth" playing records unless I'm recording them for a compilation.

I’m playing it now and it sounds like a brand new record that’s never been played before. So not sure what to ask for this. Offers or swaps maybe? 23. The original is on Dynovoice, white label with coloured design - bootleg is a pale blue label. Think it's also on unrelated labels like Candelite as well.
