  1. Isn't it amazing that we can remember precisely where any specific record came from 10-20-30 years ago, who sold it, when we got it, who was around at the time we got it, but can only remember two of the three items we were asked to get from Sainsbury's yesterday.. Or is that just me...
  2. Does anyone else actually say this?
  3. I love The Beatles and if I had the dosh I'd be interested Daz but am not a collector of them really, I just like the music. But it's not difficult to sell Beatles stuff. I recently found two books on Beatles bootlegs at an antiques market in Bridgnorth, £6 each, I got £25 each for them on Amazon this last month.
  4. Well if they never handed over the money, people are surely entitled to a refund even this long after the event. Or trading standards need to have a look at it.
  5. Thought I'd bump this as it's had so few views - probably because the topic title doesn't make a lot of sense to someone who doesn't know anything about it (like me)
  6. Nothing wrong with asking where the money went, after all, it was people's hard-earned cash.
  7. This is a scenario I have a problem with. When I go to do a new reggae podcast, I go through the records and pick 25 to 30 titles. The I record them one at a time on the deck with the built in cd drive, burn it, import the results into itunes and then export them into mixmeister to do the mix. The thing is though, 25 of those 30 records will already be in itunes. In 3 minutes I could create the exact same playlist in itunes that it took me over an hour to do playing from vinyl. So it seems a no brainer to do it the easy way. It was different when I had two decks set up for recording, that was at least quite exciting to do a live mix, but now, unless I really need to hear those records, I'll do it via itunes. Though the podcast I did on monday was all done from freshly recorded vinyl, when I imported them into itunes naturally 99% of them were already there
  8. It's not my website mate and I have no say in what you do. I honestly can't remember who gave me the link originally and why I was told to keep it quiet, but I can't see what the problem would be now, so if you want to put the link up then go ahead.
  9. So you're basically saying that people are setting up charity soul nights, or PRETEND charity soul nights, in an attempt to sabotage or take over established soul nights? I could imagine this happening maybe once...but to brand all charity do's with the same brush, I think that's pretty much out of order, especially with some of the fantastic work that the guys who've already posted on this topic do. Very unfair. If it's just the one, and you know it for a fact, spill the beans, otherwise insinuations towards straight up guys like Paul Donnelly and Jez Jones leave a bad taste in the mouth. I'm not mates with these people but I can see what they do is a good thing.
  10. Steve I can't remember but I never deleted it so it must still be on here somewhere
  11. Anyone remember me posting up the label scans of Sandy Golden's other 45? It had her manager's phone number on the label!
  12. Thanks Frank glad you liked it.I got Norma Fraser off Ebay about 6 weeks back for (I think) £48 or thereabouts. You Better Call On Me is indeed a reissue of Shocking Love which came out on Island about 18 months earlier.Blanks are pre release copies but anything without a label is pointless so unlike Tim below, I wouldn't touch one with a bargepole unless I couldn't get it on a UK pressing.I've no idea about Reggae events, I've been buying Reggae since 1970 and I have never been to a Reggae do of any sort! I'd like to, but have never known anyone else interested enough to go.
  13. Well I did 3 double sided ones, and I ended up selling the one I kept so thats 3...
  14. I've lost track of which one we're talking about now
  15. I'm not "dissing" the Sandy Golden Nev, I like it, both sides, I just don't think it's got whatever it is that takes a record to the highest level though - it's another of those where if it were a fiver...I think both sides start out superbly then just go off the boil
  16. Can you imagine the weight of those? I once bought 1500 albums off this old bloke just to get 200 singles, I lived in a 3rd floor flat and honestly after I'd carried maybe 6 or 700, I just put the rest back in the van and dumped them down the tip. I mean obviously as I was chucking them I kept anything that was of any use (mainly Elvis!) but I couldn't take any more lifting
  17. Yeah but it's a different song to the Sweets, why would you but The Sweets if you wanted Sandy Golden, that's like saying you want Moonlight Music And You but can't get it so you're buying What Shall I Do instead.
  18. Yeah when I showed it to one 'top dealer' he'd never seen it before. I think maybe it came out locally, wherever the show was broadcast from maybe, and then picked up for wider distribution. I never knew that sleeve you've even existed. Wonder if the label issued anything else. Also, is it from the early 70's?
  19. did you find the website? I was going to send you the link then I realised. I haven't got it anymore!
  20. Yeah it is or it was but the password was labels (I think) how much for the Toby Juggs record?
  21. I never had a break, I just moved away from the epicentre
  22. You probably haven't even heard it...
  23. I mean it's not mega expensive but £30 to £40 maybe for a demo. I remember getting the demo with the MGM distribution logo, no one had seen it before, straight up. SO the issue with the MGM logo must be very rare.
  24. Maybe not to you but it's my opinion so it is either here nor there. Weaker side my arse
  25. What they've done is taken the basic backing track from The Sweets "There's Something About My Baby" and overdubbed instruments onto it.
