  1. Totally bonkers but absolutely TRUE. Rod how did you discover that?
  2. I like it as well, used to love dancing to this
  3. It really was a monster for a short time, that last Casino tape I posted up, was played by 2 dj's in consecutive spots
  4. No it's just the way I'm standing boom-boom!
  5. No he wasn't, honestly, people sent in their own lyrics and he put them to music and sent it them back as a record - that's how he (and the label) made money. So they had X amount of backing tracks, they advertised for 'lyrics wanted' and 'put your own voice on a record' and they would fit the lyrics to whatever backing track was suitable. They were a production line and didn't write any of the songs themselves, they were written by ordinary folk and nutters alike.
  6. Thanks for moving it Rod, was enjoying the banter but not fair to do it on the guy's wants list as you say
  7. In the 90's I had a couple of copies of this, cost me little or nothing, £4 apiece I think, then in the 2000's, I started to see it going for really silly prices as it was suddenly going under the 'freakbeat' banner, which surprised me a little. It was bootlegged on a superb looking counterfeit but easy to tell as no centre and no milling etc. I'd expect this copy on ebay to sell for a really good price...
  8. Sorry Mike
  9. Any chance of moderators leaving the original wants ad intact and moving the rest to a new subject with the same heading in LAYB?
  10. When you say 'nice' you must surely mean 'unlistenable'
  11. No not wound up at all and happy to chew the fat mate, depends if you like 60's pop I suppose, that's all it boils down to. I love Petula Clark's mid 60's singles, stuff like that. I'd never attach them to soul though. It's just part of a wider discussion.
  12. Alma Cogan was a brilliant singer. Have you ever heard her answer to "Fortune Teller"? Tell me that's bland.
  13. We get it - you don't like it! Other people do. Fantastic 60's pop dancer.
  14. What a great selection, I would never have guessed who the artist was in a million years
  15. Sorry mate not being petty but I'd rule out Ohio Players because all of those versions of that song (and according to the producer there were ten or so) were cut at almost the same time so not really a cover, and they all use the same backing track.
  16. No keep it going. It's why we all come on in the first place - to debate!
  17. Sounds like a black group to me...I must have heard this a million times but never once thought "hmm this sounds like a garage record". Funny how we all interpret music differently. (Not being sarcy by the way)
  18. The Jades is soul though...
  19. You've lost me on this one, what's "non-Northern" about this one? You can't get much more hardcore Northern Soul than this.
  20. You'd see the point if you collected UK labels only Jim. And lots of people do. Once the USA stuff has run out, you have to look nearer to home.
  21. if that was me selling I would be terrified of someone leaving negative feedback so would bend over backwards to keep the customer happy.
  22. Daft as it sounds - I don't think there's much to chose between the two versions. LIke 'em both.
  23. Mark is a member on here...
  24. Jim, I explained this a while back but basically, I love Northern Soul and I love 60's pop music, so I think it's inevitable that I will really like something which is a combination of the two (like this one). That's why I like the Kiki Dee, jenny Wren, Paula Parfitt, Mark Loyd, Chapter Five records...by the same token, there are loads of black artist records that are utter sh*te like george lemons...
