  1. What? BCFC Zulus in the Mander centre? Birmingham never came into the centre, they attacked the George once, but apart from that, everything was down Broad Street, Thorley Street and near Carvers. I didn't miss a home Wolves game from 1976 to 1983 so I saw lots of goings on of that type. There were certainly fights between Mods and Skins (Secret Affair gig), Punks and Skins (Skids gig) and all 3 (Specials/Madness/Selecter)...
  2. It's not that bad. Well it IS bad, but not to such an extent that's it's stopped me selling and people buying. £3 to Europe £4 outside Europe £8-£9 registered worldwide
  3. True..
  4. Probably because people don't want to read 50 posts saying "can't wait for saturday"?
  5. I think Ian Levine produced it. He got Columbia to let him use the Okeh logo.
  6. I don't use the events section so I don't know what it is that you're all disagreeing on, so I just went in and tried it, clicked on latest events, loads of boxes with events inside, clicked on one and read about it. Cool. Then I clicked on comments, I presume the top left box has the most recent comment, so clicked on that, read it, cool. So it looks like something that's working perfectly well for me, except I am obviously missing something that's getting you all upset. Looks fine to me though...
  7. Was that taken at your last DJ spot?
  8. She can't sing and it's backing track is terrible. Utter rubbish. No wonder nobody wanted to buy it off me last year
  9. Whats that supposed to mean? An intelligent response puts you to sleep does it?
  10. What a crazy statement. Whats the point of cd's? Erm..30 tracks on one small disc, ability to play in random order, very hard to damage, improved sound quality...and so on and so on. I'm no big fan of playing tracks off cd's but for home use and convenience, even if thats just down to space saving, how can you ask whats the point of a cd...
  11. I think he sold his because it was such a rubbish version..
  12. Same as anything when it becomes unavailable and people want it...
  13. I only wasn't enamoured because I thought there was too much filler on it...especially the last 3 tracks...but interesting you mention Tony Hester, I played that 10 minutes ago because I'm going to be selling a copy tomorrow, and I played the cd version after it, yes it does sound fantastic on cd but if I had to choose...
  14. Won't bore everyone to tears with this so I'll pm you. You won't remember.
  15. I bet you £10 you don't know where I first met you. Or rather, first encountered you.
  16. Do you know what I mean though about it sounding clinical, it's like you could probably hear the sound of a pin dropping in the studio. I feel the same about stereo albums though, e.g. the Danny Wagner album with I Lost A True Love, the track sounds feebles with all the instruments separated but really powerful on the mono 45. I do realise I am on my own with this one.
  17. Yes that would be the sensible answer for most people. But I've always felt that off the master tapes music is just to clean and clinical. Especially when in stereo. Murky mono for me everytime. And I"m not being contrary for the sake of it, I really believe that.
  18. Well it's true. Apart from the people who can afford to go to these European events, and the ones that dj at them, who else gives a toss what happens in Europe? I dunno, let's ask the 300 people dancing to ancient oldies at Goodyears tonight "Excuse me do you have a deep interest in the European Northern Soul scene?" "Er, what European Northern Soul scene" would be the reply from Joe Public. And don't go slagging off Toad (not you Ian) when half of you had retired from the scene and taken a 20 year rest, he was someone who went and supported the venues week in and week out so his opinion does actually matter to some readers. So great, there's a thriving scene in Europe and thats brilliant, but it wouldn't have existed had it not been copied from Britain in the first place, would it? And thats all Toad was saying.
  19. There were three or possibly four of us at one point but now...not sure
  20. It wouldn't have been me because a) I never did that and b) I'm the only person who thinks that record is crap and I'd never have bought it

  22. No I look at it in black and white, I get what it sold for, minus their charges but plus £1.20 postage added on by the customer towards postage. The stupid thing is, they give you the same amount for postage whether it's a cd or a cd box set, so I end up often adding 2, 3 quid on myself. And that IS me giving money to the post office.
