  1. I stopped about the same time as you or maybe a few months later because for me it wasn't so great anymore but at least I base my evidence on recordings, so if I was to say Keith MInshulls playlist in october 1978 was terrible, at least I'd have some evidence to back it up.
  2. I just must have missed the bit where he called someone 'names' - he said - correctly - that back in the 70's, lots of people 'pretended' to be into soul music, especially Northern Soul, because it was considered cool and yes, elitist.
  3. John Bowie was first played by Pep a couple of weeks before the 4th anniversary, at the 4th anniversary, and a couple of week after it, then it was mass imported by Soul Bowl and the record came off the playlists because everyone had a copy. They were sold for £3 each, at exactly the same time as The Ringleaders, which were also £3 each. So John Bowie didn't bomb, it wasn't massively popular but it was dropped for other reasons than it not being liked.
  4. Is this the response of a rational human being? You need serious help for that anger management problem.
  5. It was a Russ sound at the Casino though.
  6. terrible survey
  7. It is, I agree. I just put out a list this morning of 60 or 70 quality 70's dancers, half of which I'd be happy to have in my own collection.
  8. Apologies for bumping this. To everyone who's bought off this list, thank you, just to say that I am waiting for delivery of both mailers and cardboard so I may not be able to post today, it'll be tomorrow instead. Sorry about that, if they do come, all orders will go out this afternoon.
  9. Snobs for looking down noses at people who don't share the same tastes in music Nick, that's all.
  10. yeah it was just a general point...not aimed at anyone on this thread
  11. I love it when people say "I went for the first year but then it got crap so I stopped going" - so how did you know it was crap after that if you stopped going?

  13. Russ was a top dj up to the middle of 1977, he had more or less every top sound, same as the other dj's.
  14. Oh shut up you self righteous bore. You sum up just about everything that's currently wrong with this site and why people are deserting it. The snobbishness is just unbelievable. Some people don't like the same music, it doesn't make them inferior to you. Greatest music ever recorded? To some of us that statement is just risible. Get over it and yourself.
  15. Got a mint Salsoul 7" for £10 and also a mint Salsoul 12" but no idea what that's worth
  16. hey if you want to know what it was actually like outside of the cupboard - I did put up a podcast of an excerpt from that show a few months ago
  17. Don't think theres any rules - as long as you can heart it. My stereo/hi fi whatever tends to make any crackle etc much worse than it is, so I tend to downgrade a little and people are sometimes surprised that I graded it lower...

  19. I know what you meant in your original question. Trouble is, there was a topic recently and I posted a really long list of titles but no way am I typing that lot out again LOL
  20. What a night that was - one the best ever
  21. And you've been telling me how to do my job for how long?
  22. Depends. If I was buying say Cajun Hart on UK Warner Bros for myself, if the A side was mint I'd pay the same if the b side was only fair. I would never play the b side, ever. If I was buying a London demo of Our Love/ Open The Door, I'd want both sides to be the same condition.
  23. Rod, thank you, The most important thing here is: why has everyone forgotten my birthday today?
  24. I'd have refunded your postage Dave.
