Dean Parrish was spun at the Torch I think so was still a newie at the casino, it was reissued on Laurie but they realised it would be a perfect fit to end the night with, so even though it sold 30 odd thousand copies on UK, they'd never drop it. The Eddie Foster / Frank Wilson thing, it was just another record at the time, it came, it got booted, it got dropped, this happened to five or six titles every week, literally every week. I never heard that William Cummings anywhere until the late 80's.

Never booted at the time though so probably still on a few playlists.

I had a near mint black label one the other week, absolutely no interest in it so gave it back to the owner. Wasn't majorly expensive either. Can probably get it back if you can't find a copy.

I've had a box of reel to reel tapes for years, I meant 25 years maybe the oldest ones, they were my ex wife's and her Dad used to record them off the tv and radio somehow. I also have a large quantity of Mike Raven Soul Shows from Radio 1 circa 1970-1971, obviously I knew I had these but was a little disappointed because the actual dj had been edited out at the time, I only got about 30 minutes of the show with Mike Raven actually on it I think. I would presume the BBC do have these shows? Anyway I'd never really been through the tapes that were the ex-wifes and they contain some quite interesting stuff. There are three recordings of Top Of The Pops, one features Pink Floyds very first appearance (though they were probably on film) and is introduced by Jimmy Savile and Tony Blackburn (introduced as a new dj on radio 1 lol). The show probably doesn't exist in the BBC archive as a video tape, this is only an audio tape but still a nice snapshot of the time. There's a full episode of TOTP from Feb 1968 hosted by Alan Freeman and featuring The Herd, Ola & The Janglers, Frankie Vaughan, DDBM&T, Traffic, The Seekers, Engelbert, Bee Gees and Barron Knights. I found an apparently live concert by Petula Clark from 1967 but the Pet Clark fan club tell me that it became available on a dvd so that's not a rare one then. There are various tv appearances from pop shows but they usually cut out just as the applause starts. These are all from 67-68. There are two full episodes of Crackerjack! One is an episode I can actually remember watching because my current favourite record was performed live, "Everlasting Love" by The Love Affair, Don Patridge was also on the show singing "Rosie". Finally, a radio show entitled Easybeat which I think is from 1965, could be 1964. I think I may use same people as you but they are Sounds Wholesale? The card is very slightly thinner, but I always use three, trim them down a centimetre for better fit, and that makes a very solid package. And again, they are cheap!

You know I did a podcast (two actually) and used the 'proper' version of the Mirwood Strings "Don't Pretend", the one without the lead vilolin dubbed on? - in fact I think it's on one of those Thinking Mans Oldies volumes currently up in audio/video

People all remember things differently. Russ played FW only a few times before it was pressed, and once it was pressed, it was dropped, I'd say 6 weeks maximum for the whole process, I doubt it was played again until the last nighter and it was only years later that it started to be a regularly played and overplayed record

Frank Wilson was bootled after a couple of weeks as Eddie Foster but I'm sure it didn't take long for the real artist to appear - also came out on UK as Frank Wilson

If put on the spot I could think of several records that lasted for two or three weeks. "The Shocker" by Peg leg Moffett for instance, reviewed in Echoes (covered up as Wilson Pickett), played the following saturday, available on import a week after.
