  1. Gwen Owens. Great record but hardly something to get in a tizzy over.
  2. Tom & Jerry were definitely Simon & Garfunkel but they recorded in the late 50's/early 60's so probably not the same group. There was Tom & Jerryo of course...
  3. Disqualified because it was a US recording though
  4. There's also Don Charles version on Parlophone but possibly of more interest, an unissued Pye acetate by Stuart Smith, this was a one off which I sold last year for £500. https://lostvinylgemsofthe60s.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/stewart-smith-drifter-pye-acetate-1967.html
  5. WELL WORTH A LOOK! https://www.rare-soul.com/wordpress/

  7. Ah someone tell him...
  8. You need to see the "Laws Of Love" topic to solve this one. Plus I don't think they are boots, I think they are Arctic reissues done from the original masters.
  9. I had a Natural Four - I Thought You Were Mine - ABC demo, when I played it I could hear distinct hiss on the right channel, so I moved it on really cheap, something like £40, bloke who bought it rang me to ask why I sold it him so cheap as there was absolutely nothing wrong with it - it didn't have the slightest hint of hiss on his deck!
  10. Certainly thought about it but time - money - expertise in layout - all problems. I really wanted to see full listings of all the labels with the 'boss sounds' highlighted, not just four or five from each label. The book is great but it really needed that.
  11. 12. Much earlier than that Mark, 1980 I think. We know who did them but I would be very surprised if they got the license to reissue Vicki Baines from ABKCO
  13. SOUTHSIDE MOVEMENT - DO IT TO ME - 20TH CENTURY EX+ 40 chap who bought this sent it back as he thought I'd overgraded it - so when held to the bright light you can see some hairlines and I heard one tiny pop on the intro - it plays EX to MINT as far as I'm concerned, I don't often get gradings wrong. It's certainly EX. Anyway if anyone wants this I'll reduce it to £35 including the postage. cheers Pete pete.smith@freeuk.com
  14. Looks fantastic but after reading it all (in one go) actually disappointing because they just reprinted the first one word for word and added some extras, but nowhere near enough extras, and it's just the authors favourite records basically. And then you get like one page on an important label like Blue Cat but three pages on UK produced rubbish like the Joe label. And yes, I agree, several errors in there as well. Better than anything else on the market but could a missed opportunity.
  15. I had a bit of contact with the singer from Five & A Penny a few years back. She probably read a review I did of their record and wanted to ask me why I thought it was "utter shite" I think she said they were still performing etc etc...can't remember now
  16. I was only joking Steve. Once I sell it. it's sold...

  18. Yeah I probably wrote it I wrote this piece on the top 50 or so UK Northern records in my own fanzine, a couple of months later, it appeared in Record Collector - with someone else's name on it as author! Naturally I did my nut and ended up writing quite a few pieces for them in the end (UK soul, rare Motown, Grapevine etc) and doing their price guide for 4 or 5 years.
  19. Just thought it was slightly pre Wigan Steve but happy to be wrong
  20. Which one was he, Gallagher or Lyle? James Galt was actually a band name that they were members of.
  21. Absolutely right, this is disgraceful, he knows whats original and what isn't.
