  2. You wouldn't have been able to give him negative Swifty, you can only leave positive feedback for buyers, and even then if you leave a 'negative positive' they can remove it. Sellers have no chance.
  3. That was the one I was trying to think of Dave, thanks - Billy Cole.
  4. That's utter rubbish from Anglo, I sold an issue for £50 last week, demo I'd want £60 or £70 for - it's always an indemand record and not that easy to find.
  5. It's black and white Andy but don't you find the concept quite exciting? You can write a book, send the publishers a master copy and when you sell one, they just print it off! No more minmum print runs. I'm seriously planning something now...
  6. Mark I'd love to know more about the process of getting the book published via Blurb. What did you design it on - the layout etc - and how do you go about getting it to Blurb? They obviously print off copies as and when, I just bought one and they said it would go to print in an hour.
  7. Yeah thats one, there's another though...can't remember now. I know there's a really weird release, I think it came out on US Andee as Turn me On by Arctic Strings - came out on Power exchange as a B side with totally different artist and title...not worth anything, just unusual
  8. £9 international signed for - £4 normal airmail
  9. Someone's bid £50 or £60 on this one though...I'd have thought £25 was pushing it...isn't there a version of something like Everything Man that's worth a few quid on that label?
  10. What, literally a dress?
  11. https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/auction/7858/if-this-is-love-id-rather-be-lonely I've got this, though mine doesn't have two photocopied pieces of paper with it so it's probably worthless...actually must be quite scarce though, don't think I've had an "A" copy before
  12. More Jamaican versions of well known and not so well known Soul numbers. The last one of these I did went down really well, hope you like this one too. 18. When I lost my job I used to sell a few records here and there to try and get a bit more cash in to live on, we're talking about 1994 to 1996, someone grassed me up the dole that I was doing it for a living and they made me produce 2 years worth of bank statements (they had to pay for that to be done) anyway they couldn't find any time in that period where I was actually in the bank and the amounts were so piddling that the case was dropped immediately - but only after causing me massive stress. So my then partner convinced me that if I went about it the right way, there was probably some money to be made, so I sold my entire collection and with the money, I bought another one, then I sold that, and after about 6 months we registered it as a business. That was 16 odd years ago, it's been great and it's also been terrible, highs and lows like any other business, some weeks you make decent money, other weeks you don't make any money at all, last year there was a three week period where I had no income whatsoever. Also it might look like I turn over an awful lot of records/money going by my sales on here, but nearly all of those sales are for other people so for every hundred quids worth of records sold, I earn £20. Which of course makes me work harder to try and sell more for other people. If I were you Brett, just test the water, put a list out once or twice a month, if you make money then it would be a nice little sideline to top up your retirement pension, I don't know if it would be worth registering it as a business, why shouldn't you be able to sell your own property, after all, you already paid tax on it in the first place.
  19. Well folks I think this may be the last in the series of The Thinking Man's Oldies. That's 8 volumes of top quality Northern Soul which I think stand really well together as a series. I think my favourites on this episode are the first and last tracks: Ducky & The Glo-Liters super rare Over And Over, and the truly uplifting Love Let's Try It Again by Silky Hargreaves. Inbetween, a mixture of uptempo dancers and beat ballads including a nice unissued version of The Sparkels Try My Love by Norma Jenkins (supposedly recorded for Motown). Could I just take this opportunity to do a bit of free advertising and say not to forget that I do a list of Northern Soul originals every week, coming up are the likes of Frankie Crocker, Lainie Hill, Marsha Gee, Marion Stewart, The Flairs etc , if you'd like to receive the list just send me a message making sure your own email address is on there and I will subscribe you to the mailing list. Back with some reggae later in the week, cheers, Pete DUCKY & THE GLOLITERS - OVER AND OVER ERNESTINE EADY - THE CHANGE ARTHUR ALEXANDER - KEEP HER GUESSING THE FLAIRS - YOU'VE GOT TO STEAL IT LITTLE FRANKIE LEE - I'VE GOT TO COME BACK HERB WARD - STRANGE CHANGE LITTLE JOHN - HEART BREAKING TIME CLAUDE HUEY - WHY WOULD YOU BLOW IT GEORGE BYRD - I'M AVAILABLE LIFE - TELL ME WHY THE PARAMOUNTS - COME GO WITH ME JIMMY SEALS - THE YESTERDAY OF OUR LOVE EDDIE DAYE & FOUR BARS - GUESS WHO LOVES YOU FREDDIE NORTH - THE HURT PATTI & THE EMBLEMS - IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS PATTI AUSTIN - SOMEONE'S GONNA CRY PEG LEG MOFFETT - THE SHOCKER ROGER HATCHER - SWEETEST GIRL IN THE WORLD JACKIE BURNS & THE BOW BELLS - I DO THE BEST I CAN THE SOUND MASTERS - LONELY LONELY ENTERTAINERS IV - GETTING BACK INTO CIRCULATION THE SHEPARDS - LITTLE GIRL LOST THE HYTONES - BIGGER AND BETTER JONES & BLUMENBERG - THE RIGHT TRACK NORMA JENKINS - TRY LOVE ONE MORE TIME EARTHA KITT - THERE COMES A TIME ART GENTRY - MERRY GO ROUND APRIL, MAY & JUNE - HE WENT AWAY THE CHESTERFIELDS - THINK IT OVER TOMMY DODSON - ONE DAY LOVE BUNNY SIGLER - FOR CRYING OUT LOUD ROGER PACE - THE MINUTE MY BACK WAS TURNED DUSTY WILSON - IT'S GOING TO BE A TRAGEDY THE TRENDS - NOT TOO OLD TO CRY SILKY HARGREAVES - LOVE LET'S TRY IT AGAIN https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/the-thinking-mans-oldies-8/
  20. I once had to pay over £150 in import duty on this record
  21. Whats the Shazam site?
  22. Snap
  23. Kev. Deadwax reads Renfro 127 A, then a hand drawn oval with the letters DP or DD scratched in, then R-127-A, and finally directly opposite, a Star of David stamp n.b. the B side looks like it has been sanded off!
  24. Hoagy Lands isn't it? I never heard Dean Parrish is a playlist spin, only ever as the last record, so presumably after it came out (on US Laurie reissue before UK issue) it was probably dropped and Russ then decided to use it as the ender - unless he already was using it.
