Same here, they're terrible, get the one on the Boot label or the Soul Beat one.

Your Favourite All Time Soul Classics?
Pete S replied to Northernjordan's topic in All About the SOUL
Always cheers me up this - fantastic to dance to as well. -
No you're right, it was ABC and it's subsidiaries that used a spot of gold paint for deletions instead of drill holes.
-
Yeah they read "Lennie" Gene. Unless I dreamt that one. I will find one. * I can't find one. I must be thinking of something else. My search goes on
-
Says reissue on the ad
-
That was probably also why he mis-spelt the name, so it was easy to identify as a reissue. Notice he also spelt Lenny wrong on the Lenny Curtis pressing - must have been on purpose.
-
I can honestly say I've never even thought about claiming for clothes etc. Knees on my jeans always wearing out.
-
Could have been the 'new' version maybe? There was a totally new mix of it on a cd released a few years back. Also the Goldspot one is a different version.
-
Sorry got confused - original demo and issue have the long fade out though. As Gareth says.
-
No Steve you're wrong, just played this issue and it has the longer ending, it must just be the boot that has the end cut
-
Kenny with an I is a bootleg from 1976 Barry, it's also cut off at the end where the gospel part comes in on the fade out.

Artist Identification Required For This Tune - Please
Pete S replied to Alamo's topic in Look At Your Box
It is, one of the harder light blue Stax 45's. I think it came out in other countries apart from France, sure I had a Belgian or Dutch one. -
So would I. One of the best 'unknown' artist tracks ever
-
Thanks everyone. All things considered I don't think I'd take less than £150 for this.
-
Blimey this looks stunning doesn't it, never had an issue before, what do the panel think I should knock this one out at for an EX/EX+ copy?
-

The Thrill Of Unwrapping A Great Package
Pete S replied to Ian Dewhirst's topic in All About the SOUL
More like John Cale but I knew what you meant. If you play that track at home, you can have it so that the narration is in one channel with no music, or with just music and no narration. Or both if you set it in the centre, obviously. -
The Thrill Of Unwrapping A Great Package
Pete S replied to Ian Dewhirst's topic in All About the SOUL
If that had've been me, when I slit the package with those scissors I'd have cut through whatever was in it. Lost count of the amount of records I've ruined by using a stanley knife on the mailer. -
The Thrill Of Unwrapping A Great Package
Pete S replied to Ian Dewhirst's topic in All About the SOUL
There is absolutely no excuse for that. Wearing a scarf in the office, you puff. -

Yes it was all so different pre-Wigan when you had soulful classics as Scratchy, Little Queenie, You're Ready Now, Super Girl, Virginia Wolves...

You can follow up to the feedback that you left him if thats any use - like 'you said records were damaged then sold them yourself' sort of thing
