  1. Yeah 5 stars is default, only subtract them if service has been poor. I always leave less starts when people overcharge me postage.
  2. They just wouldn't have been the same without that exclamation mark!
  3. You could spend a day on there entertaining yourself. I especially like it when they refer to something as their old so-and-so cover up, always on UK label, despite me reviewing it uncovered ten years earlier. No offence like...
  4. Do you mean Donna Summer - The Hostage? Had a few spoken word segments in it.

    Mel Britt R.I.P

Ian Levine... I just learned that the wonderful Mel Britt died in February. You see - for all the shit I get from the Soul Scene, my Strange World Of Northern Soul did something that no one else ever could, and leaves a wonderful testament to these unforgettable irreplaceable singers.
  6. Ian Levine reports that Mel Britt passed away last month, new came from Mel's brother.. Tap to view this Soul Source News/Article in full
  7. When Pye reissued the Ila Van track, Dave Godin (writing in Black Music) went into meltdown after they used the word Dat instead of That.
  8. Definitely South African. Have a look at the link below and an advert in the centre of the page for Troubadour records (PTY) Ltd https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=OBgEAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA40&lpg=PA40&dq=troubadour+records+pty+ltd&source=bl&ots=ARGSg_gMiR&sig=ZbwklqPZzqa4LsiZGPqBaM8lllo&hl=en&sa=X&ei=2MhQUcjUGMKLOdSLgLAD&ved=0CFkQ6AEwBw#v=onepage&q=troubadour%20records%20pty%20ltd&f=false
  9. If anyone has one of these in working condition in their garage or loft gathering dust, I might be interested in buying it - the old disco type console with two decks and a mixer all built in, I"ve had a couple but one died and the other I sold when I moved house but I can't be bothered with all the wiring up when setting up the separate decks so thought this might do the trick. Looking for something like that below. Speakers not necessary. Stop laughing
  10. True, but nobody can ever know the answer, it's like asking how big the universe is
  11. Great selection of 45's there!
  12. Why do you lot keep trying to guess how many copies of a record there are? Nobody knows all the collectors and what they've got, there are so many off the radar people. You can never know how many there are. I met a guy today with two records worth a lot of money (Bernie Moore / Vivian Jones) nobody knows him, he's not even a soul collector, he might even have the John Harris record - the point is - nobody knows who's got what, and only 10% of the Northern scene are members of soul source.
  13. Don't think there is a boot of the demo Jez. There's a reissue on blue and white label, and blue label Sound Plus. Then there's the later 77 release (orange label)
  14. I know a little bit more about this now. The copy I just sold was sent out to a reviewer. He had had it all these years. He never got around to reviewing it at the time, in fact nobody did, apparently, which is why they didn't press on with a release.
  15. I've got one of those as well if anyone wants one! Sold the UK one now.
  16. FORK IN THE ROAD - I CAN'T TURN AROUND - UK EMBER BLACK LABEL Only know of 2 other copies of this record and haven't seen or heard of one since I printed a photo of it back in 1990! Mint too. I don't say it too often but this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire a seriously rare UK item. There's an entire topic about it here £400 minimum, cheers Pete pete.smith@freeuk.com SOLD

  17. Hi, just to let everyone know that I am still uploading stuff onto the website, I've just done Duke, Dynamic, Escort, Ethnic, Explosion, Fab, Faith, Gas, Gayfeet, Giant, Green Door, Harry J, High Note, Jackpot, JJ, Lord Koos, Mary Lyn, Moodisc. Am about to do Nu Beat, Pama, Punch, Pyramid, Randys. This will be ongoing until I have uploaded everything, I am leaving all the Island's until last because there are 200 of those. As far as I can tell, this is the best selection of UK label Reggae on the entire internet at the moment. Hope you find something of interest but if you could circulate the link to friends and forums etc I'd be really grateful. Many thanks Pete https://www.rare-soul.com/wordpress/record-shop-2/reggae-ska/

  23. Or if you've got credit in your paypal account
  24. Ska, Reggae & Rocksteady 45's I've decided to just keep a small box of records for myself and start to list the majority of my collection on my own website. The website has a shopping cart so checking out is pretty easy. So far I've added around 40 items, by the end of today there should be 100 or so. Am doing this alphabetically so I started with Ackee and I am just about to put a pile of Doctor Bird's on. If any of this sounds of interest, please check out my website at www.rare-soul.com they are sensible prices for rare records you can read via the front page or click the sidebar to choose the category. I've also added a fair few Northern Soul 45's too. thanks for reading and please feel free to forward this to anyone cheers Pete
