  1. If you have to subtract 20% for vat, why do they add it on in the first place in the guide? In fact do they?
  2. Well I'm going to stick an R&B list up in an hour or so, so then you can have a laugh.
  3. He is an R&B artist. His Soul Town record is a Northern Soul classic. It doesn't suddenly, after 35 years of being played, make it now an R&B record just because someone has changed the terminology.
  4. No I didn't, I said the song I'm Losing Again by Ray Agee on the Soul Town label was out and out Northern, I never mentioned him or any of his other records.
  5. Who, me? I don't, I've never mentioned them. What are you talking about?
  6. Right so any accepted "Northern Soul" record by an R & B artist is no longer "Northern Soul" under your new rules, I'll go tell Ray Charles that "I Don't No Doctor" is off the NS playlist then...and then do the other 5000 records
  7. Good job you don't bet much then. Take the name Ray Agee off the label, play it to anyone who's ever heard Northern Soul, ask them what genre of music it is, oh f*ck me sideways, it's Northern Soul!
  8. SANDY, SANDY, SANDY
  9. One day, when they realise they've got hundreds of unsold records, they'll come to their senses!
  10. I think I have a spare Jamaican copy of the Alton Ellis, I'll have a look. I have UK copies of both but they would take some arm twisting to prise from me. (Both are easy available as represses by the way, also you can usually pick of VG UK Island copies of Delroy for under £20)
  11. Thats about 10 years old though!

  13. Some strange definitions of R&B here, this has been known as an out and out Northern Soul classic for over 30 years and now it's classed as R&B? Mar-Vels was Northern Soul as far back as 1973 and Jimmy Frazer is also 100% Northern Soul, albeit with a blues harmonica...
  14. No it predates that by a good 15 years mate (that wasn't set in a baseball arena it was in a white studio if memory is correct)
  15. I did, but chances of survival, very limited - I had others, Lynne Randell springs to mind, also lots of Pye group ones, Barbara Mills etc. This was 20 years ago though so more than likely dumped them along the way, sorry. If I find anything, you're welcome to them.
  16. This is doing my head in, it's a video I used to have, a colour promo of an American solo girl singer, white girl, I think she's in a red dress, it's filmed in either a baseball or a football stadium she walks up and down the line of players while singing. I know thats really vague. I think it's a girl group sound rather than a soul record, I originally thought it might be Annette Funicello, then Peggy March, Gale Garnet or Donna Loren that sort of singer...I still think it might be Annette because it was so different to her usual records that I took notice of it...anyway it used to be on youtube..
  17. Very nice. I once sold my own (issue) copy of this along with a CBS news sheet saying that the record was to be withheld for 2 weeks, and a second one saying that the record would now not be released at all. It's super rare.
  18. I once had a Holly St James demo on which she'd written a dedication to her cousin on the sleeve, and have one now, Linda Glass on Vibration which says "Harry stay young and happy and hope this record is ? for me, your cousin with love, Linda Glass" - though thats on the label not the sleeve. Nice though.
  19. This is because he left a load of records round my house once and they all had the names and titles at the top of the sleeves so I just changed them slightly. This was in the era of Monty Python so even if I were to repeat them now, probably only me and Paul would get it. I was only 15 at the time
  20. It was definitely booted. As said above, as a white demo.
