  1. I can't wait to see what the reaction is to this.
  2. What do you mean by that?? (only joking!)
  3. Which is why I put R & B and early 60's dancers!
  4. Just go back to doing whatever it is you do when you're not being an arse...
  5. Oh Kev I am so sorry, I forgot you, THANK YOU
  6. Yeah it sounded like a cross between both really...great tune though
  7. No, they are all Rhythm & Blues records. After that, they can be deep soul, northern soul, afro soul, funk and so on. But how many branches of Northern Soul are there? Not many. R & B in the context of this topic is an offshoot of Northern Soul.
  8. Cheers Benji. Just leaves Jimmy Gresham and Deb Tones.
  9. Yeah I think I did stick 125 on it and sold almost immediately, thank you ! Not sure I could bring myself to put £60 on that other one though..
  10. The bloody topic is about people's R & B top 3's, where do they play these, Reggae nights? Jazz festivals? Folk concerts? Oh thats right, Northern Soul nights... f*ck this I'm off to pick my kid up from school
  11. WTF's the matter with you today, I'm talking about ONE RECORD by Ray Agee called I'M LOSING AGAIN and I'm saying that it's a NORTHERN SOUL record of the highest order, of course it's R & B, all black artist records like this are R & B, but here, in the UK, you know, the place that basically has had a Northern Soul scene since the mid 60's, it's classed as NORTHERN SOUL first and foremost. And R & B as a genre of music in the proper sense covers millions of tracks, I'm not talking about R & B in the last 15 years definition of it as a sub-genre of Northern Soul.
  12. Has anyone ever woke up one morning and said "I'm going to record a Northern Soul track"? Yet there are thousands of Northern Soul tracks. Or are they no longer Northern Soul tracks, they are in fact "R & B" tracks and for the last 45 years we haven't had a clue what we've been listening to? We called it by the wrong name, this cult that played special music that was different to everything else...all the time it was simply R & B
  13. Wooosh straight over your head as well...

  16. That's The Downliners Sect right? I found one of their albums at a boot sale, mono Columbia, still have it in fact, one side mint, the other side totally destroyed with a compass or something by some maniac, gutted to say the least...
  17. This also falls under my "this used to be Northern but now it's R & B?" banner
  18. Okay I promise no more after these last few, I've found most of them here and there but the pices vary so widely that I thought I would ask if anyone has bought or sold any of them recently, or know anything about them THE TOM EMMANUEL AND RON EXPERIENCE - WHEN YOU LOSE YOUR GROOVE / WHY (THE KNOWER) - GOLDEN THREE RECORDS Both sides pretty poor crossover by the sounds of it WILLY mCDOUGAL - DON'T TURN AWAY - KINARD R&B ish Northern dancer JIMMY GRESHAM & THE GIBSON KINGS - NOBODY KNOWS (THE TROUBLE I SEE) / NOW THAT I HAVE YOU - KITTY 005 Seen this all over the place but with possibly different a and b sides? 19. Today I am doing an R&B list - I tried the books, and popsike, but at the end of the day I got practically all my prices from Soul Source
  20. So what you are saying Chalky is that all prices in the book should have 20% taken off them? Then why not start at the 20% off figure, I don't get it.
  21. I wonder how many earn over £50,000 or whatever it is to qualify to pay vat?
