  1. Can't give you any info (other than to say it's surely a Detroit production) but was going to mention a bizarre buy I had, in 2009 I was browsing the extremely dull soul section of a UK online dealer, they specialise in pop and rock really but I was just killing time, I see a copy of The Arabians on Le Mans for £5 so I ordered it thinking it would be an old emidisc or something similar, when it duly arrived it was a lovely yellow issue...and it was literally £5. It was the only decent soul record they had - how did it get there amongst the Billy Oceans and EWF's? p.s. about 3 weeks after that I got a Dickie Wonder on Golden Triangle for £8, it was in the pressings section of an East Anglian dealers website. My hot streak ended there.
  2. Awful record but interested to see that scan as it's the first copy I've seen with a solid centre.
  3. B side of I Love New York is the spine-tingling beat ballad "Don't". Truly awesome stuff.
  4. Why? Good singer but rubbish lyrics, barely danceable, in other words, crap.
  5. Yesterday people were criticising a bloke for daring to want to play a vinyl pressing of Ronnie & Robyn and he was told to get a download as it's just as much use. But apparently people want stuff on cd not download. Therefore cd's must be preferable to records. Or something.
  6. It's in the latest Manship price guide at £115. When I pointed this out on here I was taken to task by someone for actually pointing out mistakes! Should have been £15, but obviously the seller gets all his info from a book, hence £115

  10. I can't think of a reason. These unissued instrumentals usually go for £200 to £400. I remember selling the instrumental of Marva lee - If You Can't Be True for a couple of hundred.
  11. THESE ARE ALL ORIGINAL USA 45's. THEY ARE MAINLY ON THE NORTHERN SIDE BUT THERE IS ALSO MODERN, DEEP SOUL, CROSSOVER, BALLADS ETC. 12. Just ploughing through a box of what I'd call lesser known type records, this one: BOBBY SAINT CLAIR - FOOL THAT I AM - PHILIPS never heard of this before but it's the exact same tune as JOEY DEE - HOW CAN I FORGET complete with the distinctive electric guitar intro. It's not very good, it just surprised me that's all.
  13. Not unknown, came out on UK Ember, been in my girl groups collection for years. Not as good as Beautiful Dreams mind.
  14. No it'll stay the same. The only way it'll change is if you play it with a too heavy arm or bad stylus - the damage is already done in the pressing process.
  15. Both to be honest. I had a Clyde McPhatter record on Mercury the other day, side 1 perfect, side 2 shocking, it was a new/mint record though.
  16. I sent out about 50 perfect quality full mp3's of this to anyone who asked me for it about 18 months ago - surely someone's still got it and they could share it again. Wasn't off a radio show or anything.
  17. I've had brand new, unplayed records which have styrene noise. Especially from Mercury/Philips/Blue Rock labels.
  18. All the Helen 45's are rare on demo mate. Also most of her 45's after 1963 are hard to find and she did some great ones including Look Over Your Shoulder, He Knows How To Love Me and so on. Truly excellent British pop (not soul before anyone chips in) singer. Don't think signatures are either here nor there really...unless it was like John lennon or Elvis.
  19. Sooty that Helen Shapiro record is very rare, I've only had it once in any of my UK collections - plus it's one of the best early 60's pop records of all - if you ever want to flog it do let me know
  20. I was trying to remember what that was, it was the B side to something which came out on UK Action but I had it on a US label - might have been the B side to Chuck Trois...maybe not
  21. That's a real name - Carnival label artists - you're right though, strange name
  22. Half right then..
