I'm not talking about buying boots. I can't see any sense in depriving yourself of fantastic records just because they are on a reissue label. Not can I see any sense in members advocating NOT buying something which might have given the artists some small royalties. If I was starting out just getting into Northern, I'd want to know what the greatest records ever were and I'd want to hear them and then possibly buy them, and if I can buy them for £5 on a legal reissue, it's a no lose situation. OH and that's from someone who's had at least 50,000 originals...the artists got no royalties from any of the records I sold

Read my lips: THEY SOUND EXACTLY THE SAME I get all my fulfillment and fun from what comes out of the grooves, not from the label it's on. Liam, just ignore soul snobs like this and buy whatever you bloody well like.
-
Could be...sold it pretty quickly - have to admit I didn't know either side

He was also in one of the Bond films was he not? -

Anyway you don't have to go spending hundreds on originals, I replaced all my originals with reissues from Outta Sight, really good lookalike labels, perfect quality sound, and all legal as well. I bought 70 in one go. Absolutely chuffed with them. And another way of getting great classic records cheaply is to buy them on their UK 70's release, there are at least 100 decent titles you could collect.

Was looking at the line up thats on BBC 3 and 4 tonight and I have to say there's not a single act I'd have any interest in watching. I recorded the Isle of Wight festival last week off Sky Arts and I fast forwarded 4 hours worth of programming, I didn't get to see the 'older' acts on the third day but the first 2 days were diabolical.

Those should all be about £15 each. Great sounds.

Me too

I still have a laugh about that when I think about it. I'd actually sold it for something like £6 so when I saw that "three figures" quote I couldn't let it go. Luckily I got one from a boot sale about 2 weeks later. It is quite hard though, due to the demand really.
-
It's got a chip, a warp and noise, but apart from that, TOP COPY!

Should be latest post in the sales section, only just posted it

I dunno but I think they also collect Grapevine 45's
-
Unbelievable but well done! I'd have valued those at £40 £30 £30 £20 £30

Liam I just stuck a list up of about 100 singles, most of them at least half 'book price'. You never know...

Might as well buy the Record Collector price guide every year, they have all the soul albums issued in the UK worth more than £10 (might be £15).

Tommy McCook 'Breaking Up' is a label misprint, Tommy never sang on any of his records, it's by Alton Ellis - one of the few records I'd never, ever sell, it's so good.

Sounds nothing like that song even though it's got a couple of words from it and a drumroll, otherwise it's just a generic 60's soundalike
-
Fabulous Jades is a brilliant repro. Timothy Wilson easy to tell as it's on vinyl not styrene. Tamiko Jones never booted though..
-
Nothing about the retirement but it does touch on everything else you mention. Briefly.
