  1. You're right about them not being everyone's cup of tea, I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole! Unlike yourself, I find most UK produced reggae unlistenable with a few exceptions, mainly from Dandy and his artists on DownTown. Not that Desmond Riley record though, his Lead Them and Tear Them are great though, I think Desmond Riley is probably Dandy anyway. But you've got a great collection there, value wise.
  2. It sure looks like a bootleg, it's a copy of the Diamond Jim label design really. And record number 1015, what are the other 14 releases I wonder
  3. Wouldn't have thought there'd be much demand for that to be honest
  4. But if it is - people are still going to see VG++ and automatically think that it is 'only' VG, if you see what I mean. "to me that say's 1 or 2 marks on label/vinyl that stops it being m-." from a post above, this is correct as far as I'm concerned. VG already says it's flawed. VG+ and VG++ say it's flawed, but not as badly as VG. If you grade something as EX, it's just a small step down from M or M- but a long way above VG. Confused?
  5. Got a feeling it might have made it onto here at the time, I'll see if I can find it
  6. That Roger Pace is brilliant.
  7. Are you sure Gene, I also thought it was at least 1965, what about Don't Fight It and Everybody's Got You, surely not all 63-64?
  8. Top tip. Stupid collectors: save yourself £440 on Barry White's "Tracy" by buying Ray Charles "Hit the road Jack" instead, nobody will be able to tell the difference.
  9. Sure, just PM me if you need anything.
  10. Don't need an acetate though mate, carver is fine. Hence me saying I don't need an acetate in post one
  11. Right Vinyl Carvers back in London taken over by a chap, total including postage £25 for two sides including postage
  12. I've had about 40 off them in the past but thought they'd moved back to Austria and weren't doing them anymore?
  13. I want to get that original instrumental of Don't Pretend cut, can anyone recommend a quick and reliable service for getting carvers done, the last two I used in the UK, one took 2 weeks and the other cocked the order up. I don't need an acetate, just a carver.
  14. As somebody who you probably wouldn't expect to like this, possibly anyway, I can't understand what's not to like - it's f*cking awesome - so soulful, brilliant vocals, fantastic drum and bass, oh my goodness, one of the best records I've heard in years. Mark R says I don't like soul music. He's wrong.
  15. I've got all the first three or four years with one issue missing, have a think and if theres anything you need you can borrow them or I'll copy them for you.
  16. The Soul Source Grading System guidelines in which there is no Excellent grade, just varying degrees of VG+. In my opinion this has just not worked, which is why I refused to follow it and stick to my own gradings which include EX. There is a big leap from VG to Mint. I said if you did not have an EX grade people would regard the various stages of VG as being poorer condition records and I honestly think that seeing all these VG++ records is putting people off buying. It certainly does with me anyway. I've no idea why this idea was approved, we do not use Goldmine gradings in the UK, the standard grading is via Record Collector magazines grading system of P/F/G/VG/EX/M and variations upon that. Like I say, just my opinion, but the idea is to make life easier for buyer and seller, not to cloud the issue with multiple plus signs.
  17. The problem when you use youtube clips is people often think that the copies you're selling are the ones for sale so they'd take one look at that Larks and think 'no thanks', I think you'd be better off not bothering with the clips, honestly. Just a thought. And I also think that this so called site grading using various degrees of VG+ is also putting people off, I warned them that having no EX grade would be a bad step.
  18. Sorry I know this is taking it off topic but I have the track listings to most Mike Raven shows from 1969 to 1971, this are not public domain either, they were recorded at the time on reel to reels and written down in a book. Old friend of mine recorded them. Still in my garage.
  19. I have a very 'soft' Wolvo accent compared to most of them, notice I never say 'ay' 'day' 'ar' 'yow' 'yam' or any other Black Country words whatsoever, I speak properly I do LOL
  20. Thanks everyone for the kind words. Glad I posted it now, it was quite uplifting wasn't it. Makes such a change of people trying to get 'partial refunds' for made up reasons and all the other nightmares you get on ebay.
  21. You could always use the charts from "Black Music" magazine, it ran from the early 70's to the end of the decade and always included both USA and UK charts. If you get stuck I mean.
  22. The chap's name is Paul Nicola by the way. Hope he doesn't mind me mentioning this.
  23. Is this the same record there was a topic about the other week?
  24. Last September I uploaded a compilation I'd made called "Brilliant", which went down an absolute storm, it being a collection of ultra rare and true quality 45's...anyway not long after, I was asked if I'd take part in an interview about the podcast and the tracks on it, to which I agreed, not knowing that I was going to be asked about every single track - and I'd got nothing to refer to, so everything you hear is my making it up as I go along. It turned out well enough for me to be able to share it with you lot though, so I hope you enjoy it. It was broadcast on the Hart'n'Soul show on Phoenix 96.7 FM on September 20th last year and I did a link at the time but that's long gone. Musically it's one of the best Northern Soul compilations I've done. 25. Yep, The One That Love Forgot, Dean you have to dig that out and listen to it as it's absolutely stunning - it's better than this, and the Uniques version, and I don't usually like soul ballads
