  1. Irma Routen. I cannot understand why Ian is raving over this. It sounds like a show tune. Worst record I've heard since Dolly Gillmore.
  2. Bargain!

  4. no mate sold it a few weeks back - probably for £15 in the end
  5. It really dawns on you to think that it's only what, less than 15 years since this came out yet I'd wager 50% of the people on it have passed away. If Ian hadn't done this - we'd never have got to see many of these artists, so Dr. Who special affects or not, he put his money where his mouth was and did something about it - and was just in time!
  6. I'll answer for him as he might be having his tea. Ian gave him (Chris) a few dollars and a hand held camera and said go and find these people and film them. That was his budget, enough for hotel, taxi, food. I doubt if I could have done any better filming in a hovel with a hand held video camera.
  7. But when I bought a record in the 70's it didn't have any history, it was a new release and had never been played. So this theory can only be applied to second hand records, even if they were bought 40 years ago?
  8. Sh*t - on my list of June 13th this year for £20!
  9. I've got one. And Metros I think.
  10. Not unless he's doing a bloomin' long commute to work
  11. But what about when you buy a new release - that has no history - or does its' history begin from that first ever time you put the needle on it?
  12. Well the problem is that it's a missing number from the discography, but with Ian doing a bit of bean-spilling after getting that copyon Ebay, the chances of finding a stray one get lower and lower - I don't know how many there are but when I asked Dave Welding about it he knew it well so not as unknown as I had been led to believe...bet people have them but don't realise
  13. Just noticed the limited edition number on the replacement one is 100 lower than on the one I returned, do you think if I keep complaining I'll end up with number 1?
  14. Too many people looking for it for there to be any spares I think
  15. Agree with most of what you've been saying on this thread Chalky but that Freddie Gorman is no beat ballad - it is a midtempo dancer
  16. I remember the Helen Shapiro was £125

  18. Someone who would have added thousands more dollars onto the budget!
  19. He didn't have the budget. After the money ran out, they found more artists but just hadn't got the money to do anything more than fly people to them and film them on a video camera. If we didn't have that, we'd have absolutely no footage of those people whatsoever. And many of them were filmed around their neighbourhoods. Have you watched the whole film?
  20. Yes the original has the Nashville Matrix stamp, the reissue doesn't.
  21. Yeah it was a completely different mix, really heavy on the bongos! Lots of complaints about it, think that's why they went ahead and did it again. I think the first one was a totally legit reissue, they just got the wrong take. Incidentally did any of you ever hear that 3rd version, a couple of years ago Chalky took Ronnie into the studio and he recorded a new vocal over the original backing track - I'd be lying if I said it was better than the original but it was almost as good as and a really nice take. I think he only made two copies, one he auctioned for charity, the other he kept, eventually selling it to me and I sold it soon after. Though now that Vinyl Carvers are back....
  22. It didn't actually, the first one was the 'remix' of SIMC with ISAPG on the back, then after that came the 'proper' version on the very good repro label
  23. These should be easy to find and download for free.
