  1. I've had some PM's asking me about a CD I did for a fundraising site on Friday - the charity is called Louie's New Legs and it's trying to raise £20,000 so a little boy who was in our Grace's class at school can get an operation which will enable him to walk for the first time. I didn't want to come back on here and immediately ask people for money which is why it hasn't been advertised on Soul Source. The link to the fundraising page is below if you'd like to have a look, and you can see all of the donations on the right hand side. The CD has some stuff on there that nobody else has got and three or four extremely in demand tracks like the alternate Crazy Baby and Just Like The Weather. The rest are all in public domain before anyone accuses me of stealing their tracks. Every single penny goes to Louie's fund. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/louie2008?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=socspondesktop&utm_content=louie2008&utm_campaign=post-sponsorship-donation-desktop This is the track listing should anyone be interested, they are £11 (£1 is postage) no fancy sleeves or anything, all of the money is going to the charity above and we've already donated over £1500 so far by selling records, so these were just an idea I had to keep the momentum going, I announced them on facebook on Friday and was able to put another £560 into the fund on Friday evening. 2. Went on sale yesterday Mark. £10 each and I (we) raised £560 by 4pm which I paid straight into the charity. I haven't mentioned it on Soul Source as it looks like I go away and come back on the scrounge. So I just sold it off my facebook sales group page. 30 unissued acetates basically. This is what it's for https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/louie2008?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=socspondesktop&utm_content=louie2008&utm_campaign=post-sponsorship-donation-desktop

  5. Thank you kind Sir :-)
  6. I just like playing records. In my business I have to sell the originals so if it's something I like, I'll buy a reissue, boot, carver, don't care as long as I can play it at home. I play the vinyl not the labels.
  7. Not sure if this is of any interest or not but it's one of the best one's I did recently and has some interesting stuff on there... BEST OF 2016 Here’s my pick of the year folks – these are records that I’ve had and sold and now have back, or have enjoyed playing, or that other people have enjoyed, it makes for a really good two and a half hours of listening. Thanks to everyone for their support this year and beyond, it really is appreciated and I hope you’ll keep listening to and enjoying the mixes. 8. Lend a hand to this lonely man...first line isn't it?
  9. Well I've only got the LP one but there's bound to be a difference. The same people even booted the boots of Sam Williams, Billy Woods etc. Constantly being sold on ebay UK
  10. Mas only one problem with that - yes the DG was done with permission from Don, but then someone booted that almost identically - so now there's a boot of the reissue - I refuse to get into arguments about this sort of thing anymore but I found that to leave a very bad taste in the mouth especially as the money was going to Don directly previously.
  11. Anyone said The Capitols - Don't Say Maybe Baby - I don't think the title comes in until the very end
  12. Seriously, you managed to find the film? I know I still have it on a disc somewhere. The track plays twice, once at the start then a much longer version at the end. I think :-)
  13. pete.smith@freeuk.com I knew you'd have it, you kept everything - thanks Simon I lost so many rare tracks when I changed my first Mac, I forgot to save itunes :-(
  14. I won't comment on that price.
  15. Correct of course. The second RCA is solid centre.
  16. The thing that I don't really understand is the original oldies phenomenon. I saw a Rita Dacosta the other day for £900. Okay, rare record, not a bad tune, but it's playing out days were over in 1975. So are these records bought as trophies to admire at home like the proverbial Stags head on the wall? There is no right or wrong, I just think that records like that, the Velvet Satins, massive records in the past but long past their sell by dates at venues. The second thing I really hate at the moment is people using Discogs to make price comparisons. They use it both ways; firstly, if selling, they will list something worth £100 at £150 and tell you that the cheapest copy on Discogs is £200, therefore you are getting a bargain. Second way, if you list something at £50 they will tell you there's a copy on Discogs for £40 so I'm overpriced. Yes but the £40 one was in Good Plus with writing all over it you tw*t.
  17. Does anyone remember this? I posted up a clip which still exists, but I posted the whole version to Ady and I also put it on a podcast. At the moment I'm putting a charity CD together of all unissued tracks and I'd love to put this on it so if anyone has the full version of the vocal to Right Kind, could they please let me have it? I lost my original years ago.
  18. LOL brilliant I don't even remember the record!
  19. Thing was I'd arranged to sell it to Max Millward for £500 and was taking it over to him so I thought rather than just put it on the car seat, I'll repackage it, and pushing it in the envelope my finger literally cracked it, so I took it to Max and he played it and handed the £500 over and I said Max, check the record out, I've actually cracked it - it didn't sound, he hadn't noticed and may never have done so - but I couldn't do that so we decided on £150 and I lost a couple of hundred due to what I'd paid for it. Good karma though.
  20. Joann Courcey - I've got the power - put my finger through it while packing it in a mailer
