  1. All the top dj's played them as well - one dj got a sound, another might also get it, the rest played off Emidiscs supplied by the other dj's. I remember sitting on stage with keith Minshull one very quiet Wigan saturday night and practically everything he played was off an acetate (Tough Girl etc)
  2. Would love to have if I had a Blackberry!
  3. So just remind us how much money The Professionals made yesterday when Rod sold their record for £2000. Or how much in royalties all of the artists got from the sales of their records on Soul Source and Ebay this week. You seem to think everyone who buys records is a DJ. They aren't. You also seem to think everyone can afford to buy £500 originals. They can't. But they can buy a £5 version of it which sounds the same. I don't know why anyone else buys them - I buy them because I like to play records at home now and again. I cannot be the only person who buys records to play at home. I also buy all the legal reissues I need as well. And I also make my own records if they aren't available as reissues. If people buy them to play out as imitation originals - that's up to them and the people who book them. I've had originals of probably 80% of every record ever bootlegged. If I'd kept them, I could sell them and buy a mansion somewhere. If I hadn't sold them I wouldn't have had a job for the last 16 years.
  4. Had a few. Maxine Brown 'Yesterdays Kisses' springs to mind. Also a WD of 'See the big man cry', I think there's one of The Anglos as well.
  5. The bloke you are arguing with is a lawyer by profession so I think he probably knows a bit more about the law than you do
  6. It's not an opinion, it's a fact! Piracy is the unauthorised copying of an original recording for profit. Pirated products will often have a different package than the original product and will often take the form of previously non-existing compilations. Bootlegging is the recording of live or broadcast performances without the permission of the performers, songwriters or the record company which are then copied and sold. Counterfeiting is the copying and packaging as closely as possible of the original product with the use of the trade marks and logos of the record label such that consumers are misled to believe that they are purchasing original product.
  7. Brett, a counterfeit is a different thing to a bootleg. A counterfeit is made to look like an original in order to extract money from a mug punter. A bootleg is an illegal copy of something. They are both illegal, but there is a big difference between a bootleg record and a counterfeit record.
  8. There's a big difference between bootlegs and counterfeits. Counterfeits are made to deceive. Bootlegs are just, well, bootlegs, everyone knows what they are. People have various reasons for buying bootlegs and reissues. I buy them because I sold all my originals and still like to play records now and again. If that's a crime, or if that makes me idiotic and uneducated, throw on the cuffs and lock me up...though not sure how I can be uneducated towards these things as I could tell you how 99% of all of them differ from the originals without looking..
  9. So do I. F*cking rude as well.
  10. I did have, sent them to some dubious guy in Bosnia
  11. ALL SOLD Kinnell it's easier to sell clothes than records! These are just hanging in the wardrobe doing nothing, all are in superb condition except for the dark blue one which has a crease on it's collar (see pic). Size wise, FP's are notorious for shrinking. I like to wear them loose, not tight, so you are looking at between 42 and 46 chest size on these. Aquamarine XL this has been purposely shrunk down to a L Very vivid Royal Blue XL this is one of those which also has printing underneath the collar at the back Kind of Lime Green size L but just as big as the XL's, never worn Dark Green size L never worn Black, this has a trim of pink and blue, worn once to try on basically, size L Dark Blue size L this is the only one that shows any signs of wear these buggers retail at £60 each now. Asking £10 each or £50 the lot. Postage extra.
  12. I think all UK copies of that have no centre, but people often mix up the Dutch copy with the Uk and the Dutch one does have a centre.
  13. We are. It sounds like a KIki Dee B side from the 60's.
  14. Nah just think it's a kind of nothing sort of record, instantly forgettable
  15. No, he's got decent taste
  16. I thought Carl meant the USA orange one - but that one above, I'd sell for even less - £8
  17. On the contrary, I wouldn't sell the Dean Courtney for more than £15, the Anniversary single from the box set £5

  20. They can always put "if paying by paypal there will be an additional 3% charge if not sent as gift". I don't even mention it anymore, most people send it as a gift without me having to ask, if they don't want to then that's fine.

  22. Got this about 8 years ago I think, saddest bit when they go down the street where there used to be a record label occupying every building and now every storefront is bricked up or derelict
  23. Well I think they were to be honest, there's no other reason why they would have been pressed with large centres, maybe Polygram just wanted to fit in with the rest of their European releases? As far as I can remember, no other UK companies were producing large centre 45's. They did variations, to cater for jukeboxes, hence some solid centres and some push outs, but none were actually large hole centres except for that group including Polydor, Philips, Fontana, Mojo, Atlantic, Mercury, Janus, etc
  24. I can say with some authority that the Romans did not wear cowboy style fringe jackets
