  1. Oops sorry. Yes that is unusual. The matrix number in the dead wax should tell you if it's a second pressing, probably say something like 7XCA 32660 A-1 or A-2
  2. He does look a little familiar now you come to mention it. His underpants were that pattern.
  3. Sounds more like Peters & lee
  4. I've always tried to be an innovator Win but I'm not taking the blame for this!
  5. I mentioned this before but here it is again. In 1995 when I lived in St leonards On Sea, I got this phone call from this guy in London who said he'd been given my name by a mutual friend and that I might be able to show him a few basic Northern Soul dance moves, so obviously I said you've got to be f*cking joking to which he said "I'll Pay You", so as I was unemployed I reluctantly agreed to take his money and I'd show him the basic Northern Soul dances. So he drives down from London one night midweek and despite my embarassment, I spent half an hour teaching him how to shuffle from side to side and by the end of the session he'd just about got it. All this was interspersed with my downstairs neighbour Nancy keep ringing me and saying "You Dancing?" to which I have to reply "You Asking".... anyway we finished the 'lesson' and I said you mentioned payment, and he says oh yes of course, thanks ever so much, I've really enjoyed it, I'll just go and get the money, so I watched him from the landing go down the stairs, out of the door, into his car and off down the street at about 60 miles an hour, leaving me hot, sweaty, embarrassed and ripped off - if he's on here, you owe me £20 you b*stard.
  6. Thinking about this - it's got to be the amount of money involved, I don't think they would bat an eyelid at £100 a week, but £500+ a week might get them suspicious.
  7. As I said, in my case, I don't ask, people just send it, they must almost always have their accounts in credit. They know they're going to get their records.
  8. Maybe because it's usually relatively small amounts? £5's, £10's etc? Or maybe something to do with being registered as a business? I've no idea. I've been paying my rent to the same person as a gift for 4 years as well, that must amount to thousands.
  9. I've never 'demanded' a gift payment, but have taken over a thousand of them without a single problem so it works for me and my customers.
  10. The reason this is a plus, or why it's mentioned, is because if people charge an extra 50p for 'packing' and it arrives in recycled mailer/cardboard then you've given them 50p for absolutely nothing.
  11. Yep Say A Prayer is definitely the A side. This Beautiful Day is the A side of the Levi Jackson issue.
  12. Do you think any of the newcomers will wonder why 50 year old women at many venues are apparently dressing up as 17 year old girls?
  13. I think the plot is that they go to America to discover the greatest record ever and bring it back to the UK?
  14. Classic!

This is the rare Swan distributed press. PHIL COULTER & HIS ORCHESTRA - A GOOD THING GOING - COLUMBIA EX 20 Nice instrumental though remember when this was first played and everyone went 'what the...??' Those people should be arrested. JACKIE LEE - THE SHOTGUN AND THE DUCK / TEMPTATION WALK - MIRWOOD EX 10 We take records like this for granted now but what a double sider, 'Shotgun' almost melts the paper off the walls and 'Temptation' really is the epitomy of West Coast Northern Soul. THE PLATTERS - DEVRI - MUSICOR EX+ 10 Totally forgotten Torch oldie, lovely dancer, chime bars a plenty THE DELLS - MAKE SURE - CADET EX- 10 Classic oldie, some light marks not affecting play. Ever tried the B side, "Does Anybody Know I'm Here", a very poignant Vietnam song? Blimey. Tugs at the heartstrings alright. JIMMY CLIFF - WATERFALL - A & M M- 10 THE TRAITS - HARLEM SHUFFLE - SCEPTER M 10 Stompalong blue eyed version. Buy it for the worst version of West Side Story's "Somewhere" on the B side, sounds like Vic Reeves' club singer on vocals. SHORT PEOPLE - WHY'D YOU PUT IT TO ME BABY - GUSTO EX 10 THE VELVELETTES - THESE THINGS WILL KEEP ME LOVING YOU - SOUL EX 10 Some people prefer the Blue Sharks Top of the Pops LP style version to this! 16. No problem, I'd charge £1.30 for 1st class and £2.50 for recorded, all well packed with at least 2 pieces of card. I get records sent in jiffy bags with no packing and a 1st class stamp, and they've charged me £3, they get one star on ebay when I give them feedback.
  17. Looks brilliant. Good luck to all involved with it.
  18. Ska Bostello is about £15 - £20 on British Island so probably the same for a Wirl copy. The Hal Paige record is actually pretty common, £10 or so.
  19. Yeah you're right they are definitely not the discs pictured, they are just any old record with a stuck on label, painted gold!
  20. If you're selling from the UK, that is incredibly high postage for a 7" sent by standard postage, it will actually cost less than £1, even first class recorded is only £2.40. Just some friendly advice.
  21. I think he should have chosen the 'paste Word' option on the toolbar above, it would have pasted it in formatted?
  22. Well done mate, fantastic achievement, do we know if the missing ones actually exist though?
  23. I bought a job lot off a chap from Nashville on the strength of being able to see just one title, a Clydie King Imperial demo. When I got them, there were: 2 x marva josie "don't" ua demos 2 x sidney barnes on red bird 2 x ellie greenwich "baby" on red bird roddie joy on red bird silky hargraves on wheelsville altogether about 70 records, all r & b and at least half were really good titles like this. I paid about $80 plus I swapped him an ordnance survey map he asked about. This was back in 2000, when not that many were on ebay still
  24. Label collector perhaps. Strange breed. Spends fortunes collecting whole labels but only plays 10% of them. (If those are the only Blue Beats that he needs he's done incredibly well though)
  25. No it comes from an LP of cover versions, it was never released on a single apart from a boot. It's an adaption of Grooving At The Go Go with some lyric changes. I prefer this version!
