  1. Blue Max give me a blue reissue of the Soul Twins and a £1 note for my white demo of the Soul Twins. Pep give me £5 for Lou Ragland on Amy as late as 1985. Mick Smith give me £100 for the Outasites For The Rest Of My Life. All above were/are mates...
  2. Was a Richard exclusive, covered up for a good 3 months as Cindy Scott
  3. No they (the latter) were a British group some of whom later became Procul Harum.
  4. Trouble is everyone thinks all Chubby Checker records - except one - are very common
  5. You'd expect it to be typical US garage punk circa 66. Well I would anyway.
  6. That was a record I'd heard about in the mid 70's but, exactly as you say, I was put off by the artist and title, turns out it's pretty good. When they did it they were like a Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels blue eyed soul group from Detroit. A bit of "Mony Mony" going on in there as well.
  7. Yeah that's a reissue. Worth a fiver?
  8. I can only post 2 tags as well by the way, when I add a third it tells me I can only post three, when I have only posted three
  9. I can hear the jazz, as it starts to go into the messy ending, but not the funk.
  10. That, Phil, is as perfect a mix of tunes as one could wish to hear and thats the sort of set that would actually get me going out again.
  11. I honestly can't hear any funk element in it at all!
  12. Think there's a Johnnie Mae Matthews on that label?
  13. It's not funky though, it's out and out Northern, I couldn't believe it when I found out it wasn't a 60's recording but 1971
  14. Every record label has to use a pressing plant so I don't get that comment. It's a custom label, like Oak here in the UK, where people could record demos and put them out.
  15. But they were saying that GoGate is not a proper soul label, or anything label - it's a custom setup where anyone can make a record and GoGate would release it. The stuff that came out on suggests they'd release any old crap.
  16. According to the header of this topic, they aren't unissued, they are "unused"
  17. I like most versions of Stormy, specially the original. I like those songs that have repetitive riffs, like Crystal Blue Persuasion sort of thing.
  18. I'd forgotten that, we were just on corner weren't we, on the way back to the station.
  19. There's this random flyer display that comes up on the left of the screen, one is for a do in Burnley on Jan 18th, it shows a man behind some decks and a picture being projected onto a wall behind him, I swear it's Arthur Scargill...
  20. US copy is about £50 I think. UK Monument (or any Monument) £5 to £10 UK London £100+ (was withdrawn)
  21. Oh right, I get you. I was never saying that and never would say that, not about a JM auction.
  22. I've finally listened to everything in the box now and as I always do, I grade them in itunes (you have 5 stars, 1 bring the worst) I'm afraid most of it is well under par and some a complete waste of vinyl, going by my score. 5 stars: suspicion, frank wilson, stormy 4 stars: temptations 3 stars: isleys, marvin 2 stars: ruffin, mcnair, spinners 1 star: stevie wonder, 4 tops I've rarely heard such uninspiring Motown music as those last two. Still, I know people will say that this chart is upside down.
  23. That's great, but when you're old like me you have to be certain what's what. Actually this is all b*llocks - last time I went to Stoke, it was 100% 60's and I was so bored I left before 2am. Meaning that without drink or drugs, it's just lost it's appeal for me. Would rather stay in and enjoy being with the kids, watching the football etc. But I did do my time...
  24. But what I'm trying to say is, when a record sells for 5 times it's value, it's natural to comment about it. They aren't "his" prices, they are the prices someone has bid. If you saw a Disco Demand copy of Footsee sell for £75, wouldn't you agree it's worth discussing?
