As above: it's when you know something is spelt wrong but use it because that's how it's written e.g. Let's All Do The Shotgunn (sic)

Nothing on Hot Lead to get excited about I'm afraid. I'm sure Little Stevie's Dad had a record or played on a record on the Hot Lead label. The Inner Mind had a live album on Pama. They were said to be the best white Reggae band in the UK.

I've got one but it's only in about G+ condition. Plays alright, did use it in a podcast, but undeniably has background noise in parts. Might do you til you find a better one. You can have it for nothing. -
Good luck Dazz, get it publicised mate, it's the only way

Seen quite a lot of records with 'fake' drill holes, when we first saw these things we even tried putting holes through British releases

On Top Of The World - The Stafford All-Nighters Podcasts
Pete S commented on Chalky's article in News Archives
Chalky, seriously you ought to be inducted into the NS Hall of Fame for the work you've done here, I don't like all of the music, but so what, to produce a historical record like this and then back it up with the tunes as well, it's just an amazing piece of work and an absolute education. One of these days I'll download the lot. I really appreciate the work you've done here and hopefully everyone else will agree that this is one of the best things ever to appear on Soul Source. Take a bow Son -
No it's small packet. Costs around £5 to send to Europe uninsured.

Would This Be Classed As An "inspired" Djing?
Pete S replied to Northernjordan's topic in All About the SOUL
That Miracles record IS truly inspiring. It inspired me and countless others. -
Merry Christmas everyone, this years Christmas broadcast is a Northern Soul compilation which I hope will put people in a festive mood, or at least raise a few smiles, this time there's a mix of firstly one or two of my old favourites but also a few ultra things, some unreleased tracks, some classics and a few little oddball things which you probably wouldn't expect to hear (or probably even want to), plus one request (Happy). There's an unreleased version of Seven Days Too Long on here which I don't think I've put on a podcast before, unfortunately it's a very quiet recording but I thought you might like to hear it anyway. If I get chance I might put another podcast up later, someone asked me to do a glam rock one! Hope you all have a great Christmas and thanks very much for listening over the last couple of years. In the early 70's you could buy soul packs in a tv and radio shop called Goulds in Wolverhampton, they would inevitably contain unknown records but sometimes semi known things (to us) like All I Need by The Temptations, but never anything great, anyway when my brothers' wife's Mum died 5 years ago, they cleaned out her house and her brother, Ray, who used to be into soul, had left some of his belongings there, and that included a 10 record Goulds soul pack which he sent over to me to see if I wanted them. In it was Derek Martin - If You Go and The Four Voices - We Live In The Ghetto (I think thats what it's called).

Pete S replied to Northernjordan's topic in All About the SOUL
I remember the first time I ever heard this, I was only 14 and used to (believe it or not) the recent version by the Sharonettes and then I heard this and I was speechless, those drums, that guitar, I think up to that point it was the most amazing record I'd ever heard. -

Have a look at a Mark Freeman set - always something like that thrown in from what I've seen and makes for an interesting playlist, I like someone not afraid to play a truly forgotten oldie, that's why things like Bits & Pieces and Johnny Howard go big second time around - there must be stacks of these records lying dormant. I look forward to the John Gary - Hang On To Me (RCA) revival. -
Obviously a shaky hand won't help but once the blade or point is in the groove you just have to follow it round like a stylus was, it's a bit like a scalextrix car!
-
Yeah look at the amount of people on the balcony as well. Definitely an anniversary if there was a dance competition. (Says the bloke who only went twice after 1978)
-
That's an extremely packed night for 1980, was it an anniversary?

I've got the Prince Buster release listed, the white label is just a pre release of that issue. Fab is UK issue. Would say both worth the same...

I've done the scalpel method countless times, it's the eyes not the hands, but now my eyes are terrible and I've not been able to do it for about 5 years. You can always use a sewing needle instead of a scalpel. I've even used a Stanley knife blade.

Sorry I'm not trying to give you grief, I'm just not getting your point. He only does a price guide when he feels like it or needs the money or whatever other motiviation. The price guide(s) ruined buying and selling for an awful lot of people so I'm not a fan I'm afraid. If you look at the price of something like Billy Davis in issue one it would be £5, in issue 5 it would be £50. That's why I say it's all down to demand, if the record hadn't been in demand it wouldn't have gone up in price.
-
Sorry I haven't got a clue what you're on about. You say it's not because of demand, and then you quote a record that is in demand and say thats why it got the price. Shame people have to rely on price guides and the musings of one person these days instead of knowledge and experience.

There's a great version of I"ll Come Softly by "Heather" on UK King, updates Hortense Ellis' version, very very obscure, sold one the other day for £40.
-
Same as on ebay then. Mine are exactly the same as they are on my list or anywhere else.
-
Free to list and they take I think it's 8% of your selling fee

Bit of a strange one this, I just let my iPod decide the track listing, the only adjustments I made were to delete a couple of Dub tracks which didn't really fit in, but I kind of like this sort of selection process because it means that a) you don't get my favourites all the time and b) we all get to hear stuff that we may not have heard before...I might do a few more of these!
