Phyllis Brown - I've got something on my mind
Pete S replied to Natalie89's topic in Look At Your Box
Whose permission do you have to ask to be able to play it? -
Chapter Five - You Can't Mean It - UK CBS 202395 First off, I don't want to SELL this, I want to trade it. I would be looking for £1200 worth of trades at normal valuations not auction prices. I don't mind if it's a couple of records or a dozen as long as they are good originals and I can sell them. Condition: if I was being super safe I would say VG++ but in reality it is EX and plays MINT. I only go down to VG++ because it has a few hairline marks on it. The other side just slightly lesser. So if interested, sort some stuff out and message, email or phone me. I won't jump at the first offer though I'll wait a week. I'm not desperate to get rid of this but it's just sat there doing nothing! (Any marks on the photos are due to the sunlight)

THE BLUE SHARKS: THE SOUL SCENE'S LONGEST EVER 'COVER-UP'?
Pete S replied to Gene-r's topic in Look At Your Box
Totally disagree with this as if you haven't got the album and won't play the single you're depriving people of hearing the record - for what? Vanity? -
No idea I'm afraid. It's pretty tepid crossover.
-
I love old ads which feature the records which were big sounds at the time. See what you think of this lot. Mr. George's (Coventry, Pete Waterman), Samantha's (Sheffield, JV, KR, RS), Portcullis Club (Barnsley), Pendulum (Manchester), Brit (Nottingham). Plus an old ad I found for the Lafayette in Wolverhampton.
-
Most copies of the above play an instrumental version of Betty Lavette's Only Your Love Can Save Me with two people talking over it, hence After The Session. The instrumental of What Shall I Do which appears on a few copies has to be a mispress.

ABC in the USA used the 'gold spot' to mark their deletions

THE BLUE SHARKS: THE SOUL SCENE'S LONGEST EVER 'COVER-UP'?
Pete S replied to Gene-r's topic in Look At Your Box
When Bobby Hutton came out on ABC in the UK it was regarded as a reissue even though it hadn't been released here before. Any older recording that came out due to Northern demand was called a reissue. Now that 40 years has passed, they are rightly called original UK issues because that's what they are - but at the time they were referred to in the same breath as pressings and boots. -

The unreleased vocal to Midnight Brew turned up a few years back. It was Can't Turn You Loose or some similar old Stax tune.
