  1. Is that addressed to me specifically? I don't collect so it doesn't make any difference what I play something off. Could be a one sided teacake with vinyl properties for all I care. I have to sell all the originals to make a living. I'm just talking about serious collectors with that analogy about cars.
  2. That would be like swapping your Bentley for a Reliant Robin
  3. You do? Fascinating isn't it - I've got three I think, 2, 3 and 4. My original has every title I heard underlined and all sorts of writing inside (Jo 4 Pete is one LOL) but I managed to get a newish copy a couple of years back so I have two of those.
  4. Going by what's on it, you're right, it's either the 3rd anniversary or recorded a week or two before it. I'm hesitant to say it definitely is the anniversary because it would be noisier, clapping wise normally. Fantastic tape, thanks for sharing it.
  5. It is categorically, definitely, undeniably 1976.
  6. I think You're The Dream was unreleased until it came out on a Charly compilation LP in the late 80's or early 90's
  7. Here is the second part of the podcasts inspired by Carl Gayle's 1973 articles published in the book "Rock File 2". The aim was to obtain all of the records mentioned in his articles, a task which took me 30 years to achieve. The piece was divided into subsections: "The Real Thing " (a comparison of ethnic Reggae with string laden chart 45's); "Watch This Sound" (a brief history of Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae plus the story of the Sound Systems); "Dub Wise Skank - Talkover" (dealing with the DJ phenomenon of U-Roy, Big Youth etc), and finally "Rude Reggae (a look at some of the lesser known rude Reggae 45's). These podcasts document that article which had such an influence 40 years ago, there are two parts, the running order is pretty random to mix it up a bit and I know that you will know most of these records, but just imagine what it was like hearing them for the first time ever! 8. Chalky, was Welcome To Dreamsville an unissued version cos it was issued on UK Stateside as well as Musicor.
  9. Ian will know all about Lou Pride...didn't he give it to John Vincent?
  10. I'd throw myself in front of him
  11. Early 80's - 100 Club?
  12. It is a bit on the embarrassing side though...the spoken intro thing...but yes a big happy new year to you Ian and to everyone else too!
  13. Yeah it's got a tricky sort of beat though hasn't it so maybe thats why it took a while...
  14. Shame he didn't make a new years resolution to not sing crap songs...
  15. First person I ever heard play that was Ian Clark at 100 Club. Don't think it was around in the 70's, not as a big tune anyway
  16. Very true, some records just don't take off until they get the right person behind them
  17. If I've still got the tape I'd be happy to post it up
  18. Masterpiece?
  19. The first one is okay, the second one is sh*te, neither will remembered by myself from around 15 seconds after I post this as they both sound like B sides of something that might be half decent. Happy New Year by the way.
  20. You're right, we had this conversation before, I put it on a tape in 94 or 95 off Mick Smith's copy which I later sold for him.
  21. Also you've got the label name Out Of The Past on the coloured label ones, then the white label ones (all on styrene by the way) just have the initials OOTP, where did that come from if there hadn't been a fully fledged Out Of The Past brand name first - and why start the label at number 20 or 30 something instead of 001?
  22. Was the same colour label though!
  23. They don't exist mate that's why...
  24. Plus you've got certain Chicago soul artists who appeared at the Torch helping out with pressing the OOTP bootlegs...
